There is speculation in St Louis that one of the reasons they don't want to go long term on his contract is because he's about two years older than he claims.

The Braves claimed he was two years older than whatever he said he was.

if he really wants 10 years then he is totally unrealistic...I know the Cards are in a tough spot, but I would offer him 5 years 150 mil with a mutual option or some kind of incentive based deal for 6 or 7 years....no way they can handicap themselves with anything more than 6 years guaranteed..if he scoffed at that I would just let him walk, he is a great player...but no way he is gonna be an elite player in 5+ years!

I think he will eventually re-sign with the cards, but if he doesn't my prediction is the angels

Well then I would just try my damndest to win it all this year and then let his arse walk...somebody may be dumb enough to give him 8-9 years,it just wouldn't be me!! Cards fans are very knowledgeable and would probably not freak out on the organization...life would go on!!
