Consummate professional. Very good commentator. Imagine getting deceived by your broadcast partner of 20 years and then have to work 4 more months with them.

Kind of reminds me of what happened w/Mike and Mike.

I think Buck/Aikman do a good job and anyone saying Buck has no loyalty to the guy after working side by side for two decades is a fricking idiot.

With that said, I think Monday Night Football will survive without Troy Aikman and a $20 million a year contract. That’s just business.

Troy had Joe Bucks back when ESPN brought them on but Buck did not return the gesture in the most recent negotiations because Joe Buck is a slimeball.

Would easily survive without Buck yet here we are.

And that’s pretty fricked up

Buck’s salary can be spread over several different products. Aikman’s can’t, so I understand why they don’t want to pay him what is essentially a million dollars per day he’s on the air

So Troy gets pissy about it? What’s Joe Buck suooosed to do? Not accept an extension unless they also give one to Troy?

Are you sure that's the only possible option for Buck? He doesn't need to do that, but it's possible he could have done more.

You don't know that. Buck could have tried to negotiate or play hardball with ESPN to stay with Aikman and ESPN could have stood their ground and said we're not retaining him.

Or, Buck could have said I'm tired of carrying his arse, I'll sign this deal if you let Troy's contract expire.

And if he chooses to tank over the next few months, he'll guarantee that no one will give him a new contract.

Tony Romo was a better QB

Oh for frick’s sake. Statistically, yes. But within the flow of a game, no. Troy never botched a snap that led to a defeat in a playoff game. Troy played through concussions and won 3 rings. He didn’t luck his way into one.

and a better broadcaster.

You guys are insufferable. A guy like Gus Johnson orgasms on air and you hate it, as do I. A guy like Troy is lukewarm and doesn’t do much, and you hate it.

Give Romo that same team and coach and they would have been a bigger dynasty and Tony would have outperformed Troy.

You have to be joking. The guy is terrible. He contributes nothing! All he does is repeat what happened. Jackson ran across the middle and Purdy hit him for a gain of 12. Really insightful. He’s horrible and he’s stupid as hell. The guys IQ is probably around 80. There’s a reason Buck deceived him. Because he wants to get away from him!

You realize Buck is the one does the "Jackson ran across the middle and Purdy hit him for a gain of 12" portion of the broadcast right?

I'm kinda surprised at the dislike for Troy. What exactly do you guys want in that job? I don't need the color guy to put on a show or entertain me, that's what the game is for. He analyzes what he sees through the eyes of a QB, and points out details on the replay to show you key aspects of the previous play you maybe didn't catch in real time. That's all that's needed.

When McAfee and Kelce are up there doing a comedy bit you people are gonna long for the days or boring ole Troy.

It’s the MSB. Too much emotion sucks. Too little talking and letting things play out sucks. Romo predicting plays sucks now. Same for baseball. Have a weird voice, you suck.

He played for the Cowboys. pretty simple. in a different thread one guy said "All he does is talk about concussions all game long every game." Yea, he definitely does that

He's one of the best in the business in that particular role. But he doesn't scream during the broadcast and try to be a standup comedian so I prefer his style.

Aikman's broadcasting career is likely over after this season.

He will not be renewed by ESPN and there is glut of free agent color guys.

Romo, Greg Olson, Sean McVay, Peyton Manning, etc will all be names considered.

Aikman will have to settle for a #2 slot at Fox or CBS, if even offered... He's a big time voice but offers nothing insightful in a game. I don't think he does that though.

I still think Espn is going to try to lure Manning with Brady-type $$. They've offered him a blank check before but he declined. Could decline again because his kids are in High School now and prob does not want to have to miss their games/lives during that period. He doesn't want to travel half of every week and miss holidays/games, etc.

McVay will probably be the ultimate MNF replacement. Could even see a 3 man booth for a year or two as McVay gets his feet wet in broadcasting.

McVay has a raspy voice. He’d be terrible broadcaster. It’s worse than Tom Brady’s.
