Anyone who thinks Trump is a conservative is kidding themselves.

IMO the competitiveness of a popular sport is literally a pimple on the arse of the problems facing this country and the world. But I understand such things are the subject at hand on this board.
This is obvious, but its something people care very much about so politicians will devote resources to it

This. This is exactly why the government will have a say, federal tax dollars fund the universities in all kinds of ways and federal regulations play a part in how they operate. It’s got nothing to do with conservatives or wanting small government, the situation is what it is

The current bloat of the university system is only possible because of federally-backed student loans. NIL bloat will only add to college expenses because it diverts donor funds from the institutions to individuals.

I mean, college football being a big deal kind of predated the expansion of federal student loans into the bloated nightmare that it is today. Sure it increased enrollment and funneled a lot of cash in, but to say it’s why CFB is big business is a bit of a stretch.

Do you think the feds should have no regulatory oversight over a system they effectively created?
I feel like this argument kind of eats itself. You’re saying that the federal government made a disaster of the student loan program, which made a disaster of the university system, then they stood by while CFB just went Wild West lawless a couple years ago, and only now do they want to provide guardrails…in the form of an EO from the White House?
If that’s their idea of “regulatory oversight”, then no. No man. Hell no man.

Trump's Totem Pole has quite a few very important things up top....
Tackling the stupid, who cares mess of College sports is digging under the Pole to ignore the actual Pole staring the Nation in the face.

Correct?
And Unleashing American Energy. The company I work for has already exceeded its 2025 goals for the year, and about 90% of that is coming from Exxon/Chevron/Williams/Kinder, etc...
I'm currently managing (as best I can) 4 different energy infrastructure projects that will be over the billion dollar mark when constructed. Thats about 3 too many.

Executive orders aren't law. They merely tell the executive branch how to carry out a law(s).
For example, Trump's "banning" of transgenders individuals from competing in women's sports doesn't ban them at all. It uses Title IX to deny federal funding to educational institutions that allow it. That's not a ban.
An executive order isn't going to regulate NIL with any real teeth.

If only we didn’t have the most incompetent and/or lazy Congress of all time, we’d be able to actually pass laws that had the force of law behind them.
Instead we get fancy signatures and a press conference with the president standing between nick saban, and the Texas tech billionaire footing the bill.

there's probably very little legal weight any executive order can do to help the NIL situation. Hopefully it motivates the stakeholders to actually make meaningful changes.

Trump isn't a conservative, and what if I told you they always were for more government, just government they believed in?

Because it's a Mossad op and for some reason he refuses to piss off Israel?

Are you under the impression that the president/government can only focus on one thing at a time?
I'm under the impression that they can do lots of things at the same time but can't seem to focus on anything for long enough to actually fix things
I may be a cynic in these things, and I generally don't think government fixes end up being a good thing most times.

This one is particularly egregious because where is the federal jurisdiction over college sports?
How many accept federal money for other things?
Follow the rules or give up ALL federal funding..........

I mean. I didn’t really make any claims. You said you think they can’t focus on anything long enough to do anything. So you must have some inside info.

Do you think someone having an impression about something indicates inside knowledge?
