You know you were a special player when people say you have fallen hard. the past two seasons he has hit 54 HRs and driven in over 100 runs in each season.

Albert Pujols had a sub .300 OBP and sub .400 SLG last year. He was worth -1.9 WAR. The fact that he drove in 100 runs speaks more to the brilliance of Mike Trout than anything.

. And as much as I like Altuve, he has a long way to go to pass Craig Biggio as the greatest 2B in Astros history much less be in the GOAT conversation

I would take prime Altuve over prime Biggio at 2nd

I dunno, Sabathia is good, but he's not really the GOAT of anything except for pitchers named Sabathia.

Biggios best years were from the late 90s and 00s when he was in is late 20s early 30s.

Altuve has 4 seasons on par or better and he just turned 28

He has a LONG way to go to approach Honus Wagner and A-Rod territory.

I don't know if its premature, the consistency of his approach at the plate is why I think he will end up doing it..his size requires pitchers to throw to him and he doesn't walk or strike out much..He puts the ball in play.

Anything that includes projecting performing at an all-star or near-all-star level for more than another decade is definitely pump the breaks territory.

Revisit it in 5 years, maybe.

Take a look at this WAR comparison chart between Kershaw, Clemens, Maddux, Pedro and Unit.

Could you post a link to that page on the website. Thanks.

For MVP comparisons.

Mickey Mantle has 7 top 4 MVP finishes, and won 3 times.

Ken Griffey has finished in the top 4 in MVP voting 4 times in his career and won the award once.

In 6 seasons, Trout has finished top 2 all but one season, when last year he finished 4th... Because he was hurt half the season lol.
Already has 2 awards to his name.

He got robbed out of 2 more as well. So he should have four, maybe even five depending on how you feel on him vs. Donaldson in 2015.

As good as he is Trout has to go up even another level to be in the conversation with Mantle and Mays as the GOAT CF

It's also not a forgone conclusion he will be able to sustain his play for another 10+ years or not have injuries come into play.

If, big If, his body doesn't break down he will reach 3,000 hits. Odds are he doesn't..maybe he will gain weight, his body is already 160+ at only 5’6’’ but he seems to be solid muscle, takes care of himself, and plays as if he loves the game..I just think his approach at the plate has longevity and having his first full season at 22 (what we think is 22) helps immensely in terms of reaching counting stat milestones.

Fun Fact: Altuve is on his way to another 200 hit season, this will be 5 in a row. Only 19 other players have had 5 or more seasons with 200+..of those 8 ended up with 3,000+ (Ichiro, Pete Rose, Ty Cobb, Paul Waner, Derek Jeter, Stan Musial, Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs), 4 others got within 100 hits (Willie Keeler, Rogers Horsnby, Sam Rice, and Al Simmons), 2 got within 200 (Charlie Gehringer, George Sisler), 2 others had career ending freak injury/disease and would have reached (Kirby Puckett and Lou Gehrig) and the last three outliers are…Michael Young, Chuck Klein, and Steve Garvey who aren’t ‘close’.

Worse case scenario he ends up like Michael Young w/ 2400 or so (who didn't have his first full season until he was 25)...best case scenario he keeps it up and ends up with 3,000+

I don't know why people are saying this. Mike Trout hasn't even peaked yet and his career averages are already on par with, or better than Mantle.

162 game averages

Mantle - .298/.421/.557 36 HRs/ 102 RBI/ 10 SB
Trout - .306/.410/.568 36 Hrs/ 100 RBI/ 29 SB

Trout will probably surpass Mantle after all is said and done..listening back to people talk about Mantle's relationship with Casey Stengel is interesting..Mantle never lived up to his potential..watching Trout is like watching Mantle if he was completely focused and severe injury free (Mantle's knee ligaments)

He may have the talent but no way to predict if he has the longevity. I'd rank Mantle, Mays, Griffey, Dimaggio, and Cobb over Trout right now. He has a long way to go before he passes any of those guys.

Just being in the same sentence with these guys says all you need to know. What were the stats of these players when they were Trout’s age?
