I get 17 innings is nothing, but his PV may be a little lower than we thought. He is now a year older.

lopenhagen gives him a 55 FV which is what he gave him last year and KATOH is more favorable on him than it was for urias so i would assume they think his PV is just as strong as it was for urias last year

ben badler from BA also pretty much thinks the same of him even if he seems more worried than others about JDLs durability

i know sickels still really likes him and actually thinks hes the organizations #1 prospect

Fine. Stock Down is too strong, but it is stagnant at best. I LOVED De Leon (like many/most), but I would never trade Baez for him.

Plus, this current Cubs was built on developing young bats, not arms. Trading Baez (a Hendry draft pick) would feel counterintuitive to Theo's front office.

No. Baez's versatility is so valuable over a 162 game season.

its only stagnant because its already reached a level that only gets topped by very few prospects. there arent many pitching prospects in baseball that have 60+ FV and it just so happens that JDL is being sandwiched between two of them in urias and alvarez. JDL would have probably already had a urias type season last year getting 75+ innings if it wasnt for urias. the fact that pretty much no one thinks he will be a urias type front of the rotation ace is a knock against him. sure. but hes got a hard to top FV plus a really strong floor PV

and the dodger front office likes to hold onto major league ready pitching because of the strategy its taking to build a starting rotation. giving up JDL is something that the front office isnt crazy about either and its one of the reasons why the dozier talks have stalled. the dodgers didnt want to really give up anything after that. but it just is what it is. if the dodgers and the cubs were to start talking about baez, it would be the player the dodgers would be most likely to include

Cubs wouldn't part with baseball genius for Chapman, so you'd have to figure the price would be incredibly steep. Probably not one that Dodgers would be willing to pay.

Baez is very young and has the potential to turn into a Jeter/ Arod type of career.

Uh no, they aren't.

U don't pay a kings ransom for Baez, u pay a kings ransom for a young Ace.

DeLeon isn't a young ace though (not proven anyway). Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez just brought back an Adam Eaton.

Seems LAD view JDL to be pretty valueable since they seem to think he can get a Dozier alone in return, when Eaton just brought back the #4 and #48 on the Top 100 prospect list

If the Cubs deal Baez they will get someone proven in return. He's young, defensively solid in numerous positions, and has flashed 30 HR potential. In this scenario Baez value > JDL (hitter>pitcher)

this is not true

the person who summarizes articles on the MLBTR site did a really bad job and people have gone from there. its that JDL would be the only major piece

which is fair because id also want a second baseman more proven than baez if we are going to trade JDL

If we could get kinsler to only a 2 year extension I think wed do it but doesn't he want more?

Last I heard they were talking 2 years added on to the 2 he has remaining on his contract. And the Dodgers would have to give up Cody Bellinger so they get to keep De Leon. A lot of people think Bellinger is the guy at 1st base in another year or so but I'm not sold on him. I think he ends up hitting 250 in the bigs.

Trading for Baez to play him at second would be a waste. The guy is a shortstop that is accommodating Addison Russell being on the same roster.

He's coming off a solid season offensively in 450 PA and an NLCS MVP, I reckon he more proven in the eyes of GM than you think

you can enjoy your logan forsythe for a JDL if that's the only major piece you want to come off of

he has one almost 3 win season in which he still struggled at the plate and had a nice 20 game run in the playoffs. That's nice and all but I'd absolutely rather have kinsler or dozier

Dozier is worth way more than De Leon. Dozier was a top ten player last season.

And I would absolutely be willing to give up more for dozier

I've already stated before de Leon, one of verdugo or calhoun, and then one of sheffield or brock Stewart

That already is kind of an overpay for someone as super streaky as dozier but I'd be fine with it

Fyi, Baseball Prospectus released their Top 10 Dodgers prospects today. Other than moving Yusniel Diaz from 5 to 10, this is pretty much my list exactly.

I think I'd swap Bollinger and Alvarez only because Bollinger is knocking on the door

I'm BIG on Alvarez. I think he's a future stud #1. Bellinger will hit for power and field a gold glove, but I'm not sure he'll hit for average.
