Michigan's lack of national titles post-1950 keeps U-M from being higher. I still can't believe U-M never won a title under Bo.

i'm not gonna BS you nor anyone and say that's irrelevant, but I think there's an over emphasis on that single metric, and not taking EVERYTHING else into account, if we really are creating the ALL-TIME top 5

in addition to what i mentioned, Michigan is:

#1 in all time wins
#2 in all time win percentage

if post-1950s national championships are used as the biggest factor in determining all-time top 5, then Miami and Nebraska should be on that list, as they've won 5 natties each from the 70s onwards

Ranking programs all-time based on mythical title claims is dumb.

This statement, despite being factual, and honestly, not even debatable, is going to get you a shite ton of downvotes on a Louisiana based board.

I agree. For anyone that doesn’t agree, where would you rank OU and who is above them?

ND - Claimed national titles - 11 (1924, 1929, 1930, 1943, 1946, 1947, 1949, 1966, 1973, 1977, 1988) and Unclaimed national titles - 11 (1919, 1920, 1927, 1938, 1953, 1964, 1967, 1970, 1989, 1993, 2012)

This is bama level except without any real titles.

That would be Auburn

That would be UGA

.The vast majority of polls selected UGA and also had the Heisman Trophy winner and led the nation in offense.

There were only 2 polls at the time and neither voted UGA #1.

You do realize excluding 50+ seasons ago puts UF ahead of LSU, right?

I do think we are close to redefining "Modern CFB" to start with the BCS.

Almost 30 years of settling the NC on the field instead of in the polls (not without controversy).

44 big ten titles

Conference Championships dont really matter, BAMA only has 34 (30 being SEC) and are clearly tGOAT. Along with that goes all time wins. Definitely impressive, but not all conferences are equal.

Richard Billingsley and Deke Houlgate were people, not polls.

The team was named national champions by the following polls recognized by the NCAA: Berryman QPRS, Billingsley System, DeVold System, Houlgate…

Whatever you wanna call 'em they were all recognized by the NCAA and the majority had UGA the #1 team that year.

So you finally agree that no single poll had UGA #1.
