damn. never realized he was that jacked up during the WS run

Gonzalez was good buddies with Caminiti & Bagwell. He was a major user.

Add Richard Hidalgo & Bobby Abreu to the list.

Pudge was a definite roider.

I dont think Biggio was.

But i think a lot of Stro's in the late 90's were. Bagwell, definitely. Carl Everett say a spike in numbers with the Stro's too. Moises Alou. Richard Hidalgo. Jose Lima

If I knew you in person, I would be willing to bet some dough that one or the other or both is on the list if/ when it's ever released.

Venezuelans are pretty big cheaters (Zambrano). Hidalgo & Abreu were both users that came from the Astros Venezuelan developmental programs. Latins are big users in general.

I hope you're wrong about this.

Pudge has been on them forever bud.

He stole the '99 MVP from Jeter with that shite.

how come their numbers are consistent nearly every year?

And is Abreu on a list or linked to roids? he's had a pretty consistent career throughout

HGH isn't detectable. "Supplements" don't help hand eye coordination.

Abreu is a good hitter. Hidalgo was a flash in the pan whose numbers dropped off the table and he disappeared from baseball.

This was a speculation thread. Abreu came from the Astros farm system which was full of users. I speculate that he did too.

He was on them at some point. He just stopped hitting homeruns when they started testing.

He's probably the most obvious user in MLB. His body type completely changed from his WS title with the Marlins to his spring training with the Tigers.

He either used or he has the world's largest tapeworm in his gut.

its not 100 full proof test, but you can detect HGH.

and these guys are 9, 10 year MLB veterans its hard to believe that after all the Bonds shite and now Ramirez, etc, that they have used HGH for that long. I just dont buy it

i think he's clean.

a lot of people speculate Caminitti brought it around the Astro's, and that was mid 90's, about the time Abreu came up. I dont think HGH was prevalent back then and in his second year, Abreu was putting up numbers pretty consistent to what he did last year and what he'll prob do this year. That was 1998 with Philly

not really

98: 17
99: 20
00:25
01: 31
02: 20
03: 20
04: 30
05: 24
06: 15
07:16
08: 20

he's never really been a big HR hitter. But those numbers are pretty consistent

Do you think long-time steroid users that built their careers on power simply went cold turkey on "supplements" after 2003 or do you think they simply started using less detectable drugs? I think hitters that are approaching their potentially last multi-year contract are getting on "supplements" b/c they have little to lose and everything to gain. I think usage is still pretty prevalent in the game.

i think a lot do

and a lot hit their mid 30's and fall apart after being pretty good the years before. Maybe its cold turkey, maybe its just the pounding from the drugs. It just so happens to coincide with stiffer testing, so make your own judgements

Sosa fell of the wagon and broke down

Ortiz was kind of the opposite, went from a 20 HR guy in MINN to 50 in BOS, but is now breaking down.

Caminitti went from winning the MVP to breaking down to dying

Bagwell went from 20 HR guy to a 40 HR guy then fell off and broke down

guys like Hidalgo, Jay Bell, Gonzo, Finley, Brady Anderson, Brett Boone, etc, NEVER came close again to their career years. Not even CLOSE. What do u suspect they did? They were obvious users for a short period, but either went cold turkey or starting taking a shitty, less detectable drug.

I think the highlighted guys saw using steriods as a chance to make a last ditch effort at cashing in a lucrative contract. They were mediorce ballplayers to begin with but the roids made them superstars for a short period of time. Once the money was guaranteed and in the bank, they weaned themselves from the drugs and "faded into bolivian (Mike Tyson quote)"

Hidalgo ate himself out of the league.
