On the replay it’s clearly a fake slide, but in real time it’d be a bit hard to be sure it wasn’t just a slip.

Pretty slick play, but no that shouldn't be legal.

It shouldn't be legal because the slide exists to prevent players from getting hit and at the moment they start to slide you're not allowed to hit or else it's a penalty.

Fake sliding makes sliding rules useless because it proves defenders can't know for sure if you'll keep going on or not as you enter into a slide.

So unless they're going allow hits during a slide this should be illegal.

The refs completely blew the call. The whistle should be blown when he starts to slide.

Then tack a delay of game penalty because he ran with the ball to the end zone.
