FWIW, I keep checking Rotoworld and MLBTradeRumors and the names in the trade are all over the place except for Oswalt and Happ. Straight up, you have to be happy with Happ. He'll be your #3 and he's younger and way cheaper. Anything else you get in return, especially this firstbase prospect, is cake.

Thanks but I did research and it looks like Happ, Gose, and Jonathan Villar. I appreciate the concern though!

If Amaro fleeces Hou, there is still plenty of farm to go further, I think they will make more moves.

Maybe Tejada from Balt, for bench and should Utley's thumb slow. And/or a move for one of the Pirate relievers..Dotel isn't getting any younger and is on fire of current.

No kidding. What the hell kind of trade is that. I thought the Astros were asking the world for Roy. God. At least get a decent prospect in the deal.

I absolutely love this trade as a phillies fan.
Happ is unproven, Kyle Kendrick had a great rookie season too, and he can't keep runs off the board in the 5th inning. I do like Happ a lot but with injury problems this early, I'm ok letting him go. Oswalt gives us arguably the best 1-2-3 in baseball and in the end a prospect is a prospect. Singleton is in single A, which means he is most likely 2-3 years away from the pros and there are a many players hitting his numbers in single A. Building a young system is great, the Phils did that and that is why we have the team we do now ( Rollins, Hamels, Howard, Brown ) but we could fall on our own sword if we try to force blood out of a stone by relying on prospects to be our next Howard and Utley even if they truly don't have that potential. I'm a Phils fan and thrilled with the deal. Our window here is 3-4 more years, I want at least 1 more ring before that's all said and done.

Amen Kerry. That window of winning, coupled to the payroll and vets, is why I wished to keep Lee, even if he eventually walked to NYY. Still get the compensatory pick. And why I'd be fine with making a move for Dotel,etc..as long as it doesn't cost a Biddle, Colvin, Singleton, May, Cosart,etc..

And agree, as even last year before the talks with Tor and Clev..thought that Happ had overachieved to the point hocking him in a deal as a centerpiece for proven ace, would be a smart move, despite Happ's solid efforts.

How've you been been? Haven't seen you here lately.

Please tell me this is some kind of sick joke. How much $$ are they talking about sending? Gose is a nice pickup but shouldn't be the centerpiece of this deal. We already have a Gose, his name is Jay Austin.

I'm doing good man. I'm really enjoying this 7 game win streak we have going on. This is a different team since Milt got replaced by Greg Gross. I'm excited about the rest of the season and you know as well as the braves fans that their time atop of the division is numbered. I can't wait for them to come back to south Florida for a series. I flew up to Boston in June and went to that series we had. Had a great time at Fenway being my first time there but they whipped our arse the first 2 games. Things are looking good for our phils.

im posting from my phone so i cant exactly go into meltdown mode but im pissed about this trade. Gose and Villar are good but not great prospects. We have a ton of toolsy speedy outfielders. Gose plays the same position at the same level and is essentially the same player as jay austin. same problem with Villar. he plays the same position at the same level as last years top pick jio mier. Happ had one good year and is now battling injuries. Plus hes 28. Not a kid. I mean Brett Myers is 29! Wade gave the Phillies a top pitcher and 11 million fricking dollars for 2 players we essentially already have in the system plus an injury prone place holder in the rotation. This is a fricking joke. Ed wade apparently thinks he still works for the phils because he made a great trade....for them.

Dom brings wheels. Need JRoll back in next week, ShaneVic, and then Ut.

Too many chiefs, not enough Tontos all year, until Gross taking over. Seems like a lil' batting lineup chemistry is starting. Good to see some table-setting, and not just a lineup 8 deep all swinging for the solo shot.
