I mean this is close to a repeat of what happened to him 30 years ago with the WGC.

So you know that LIV Golf is going away as a pro golf league? Is the DP Tour going away and their CEO? If neither does but they "align" themselves as the mandate suggests why is Greg Norman out at LIV?

Don't shoot the messenger but that's what the news outlets' sources have been saying...that Norman is not expected to be part of the joint venture moving forward. Him being the CEO of LIV and not being a part of the meeting two days ago is also pretty telling.

Where are you drawing that from my post?

DP World Tour CEO wasn't sitting by Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan when this came down yesterday either. Is he out too?

Just a bunch of speculation and frankly, when I hear these media heads talking it sounds mostly like they are still trying to find out who won this thing.

In the meantime we have Rory spinning this thing like a carnival act publicly. He's positive that PIF isn't LIV. Another great mind telling us who won this thing.

The deal could absolutely include Norman being out. You think he gives a crap about that? LMAO.

I know he is uber rich with or without LIV, but I do think it is a big deal to him. I know he will be fine either way.

Flash forward a couple of years later, Finchen, along with the Euro, Australian, Japanese, and South African circuits formed the International Federation of PGA Tours which would announce the creation of the WGC.

And in large part the WGC concept just didn't work. Maybe it will work now, but it didn't work in the 90s and early 2000s.

I don't know how reliable this source is but I hope this is true. Rory deserves every bit of it

Most accounts is that he was CEO "in name only". Yasir Al-Rumayyan runs the show. Norman is just a figure head that has advocated for 3 decades to have more tournaments World Wide. If this goes through and the landscape changes to more world events, his goal has been accomplished.

Now, Norman probably has some large investments in LIV that he hopes will pay off. Who knows if or how that is structured.

But, if you think Norman's goal has been to be CEO of LIV, you haven't been paying attention for the last 30 years.

At a time when no one in their logical mind should ever trust another word that Jay Monahan says again, Rory, in that meeting, was still licking the boots of the guy who just lied to him as much as any golfer. What a royal stooge.

Pretty sure I read it would be for-profit
quote:

The PGA Tour would remain a nonprofit organization and would retain full control over how its tournaments are played. But all of the PGA Tour’s commercial business and rights — such as the extremely lucrative rights to televise its tournaments — would be owned by a new, still to be named for-profit entity that is currently called “NewCo.” NewCo will also own LIV as well as the commercial and business rights of the DP World Tour.

The Commissioner of the PGA Tour was in the meeting but the CEO of LIV Golf was not regarding negotiations of a partnership/merger of those two tours. Do you honestly not see the difference/significance in Norman not being there? That's a pretty important fricking meeting for the CEO of the organization to find out about after decisions were made

And do you really think Keith Pelley wasn't a part of these negotiations regardless of whether he was physically present at the meeting? Call me crazy, but I don't think Jay Monahan can negotiate the rights away from another Tour on his own. This also settled the lawsuits involving LIV and the DP World Tour. Jay can't settle those on his own either.

We know Norman wasn't a part of it because Yasir Al-Rumayyan told everyone he wasn't, but merely received a phone call before the press release announcing the merger. If you don't think the CEO having no knowledge is weird and significant, then I don't know what else to say.

If you think Norman's goal is simply to "grow the game of golf worldwide" then you haven't been paying attention the last 30 years

Not only that, but his idea for a "world golf tour" didn't work. I think the only event that is left is in Austin, Texas. What a world tour that is.

It's so early in this process but if you listen to what Dechambeau is saying, he seems to suggest that everyone will be playing on the same tour. I don't know who is allowing him to speak to the media but that's what he touting. On the other hand, the LIV propaganda machine is saying the LIV is here to stay.

Ultimately, I don't know how this deal goes forward. Can you sue an organization for being a monopoly and then drop that lawsuit and join them?

Monahan and Bryson talking about 9/11 was so damn painful. I mean how are they not each better prepped for that?
