Good. Get him out of Pittsburgh.

The free agent QB options are slim pickings. Could roll with Darnold, but that's very high risk given he fell apart down the stretch.

Could try to trade for Kirk Counsins, but he's as washed as Russ.

The Raiders really needed to tank for a QB last year when you had a great draft class.

He’s gonna suck arse there and then end up as the chiefs back up the next year to nearly complete the AFCWest trail

But before he does that, he’s going to be a top 4 QB per PFF.

I expect the Raiders to go after Darnold or Winston. Not buying the Russell Wilson talk.

I actually think this is a good hire if they let Pete put together a front office.

Jeff Howe is a legit insider both with deep ties to the pats and Brady but also nationally after running the Athletic as its lead national NFL writer and he doesn’t put out much unless he had a great insight on it so I wouldn’t be quick to dismiss that

Raiders prove again they aren't serious about trying to win. Just wanting to be Las Vegas entertainment.

Name a better candidate on the market right now than Pete? Sure he's 74 but he gets around like he's 54 and has a 25 yr tracker record of winning big and stabilizing adrift teams. He is also an is ant impact culture guy, which the Raiders desperately need.

I bet they get Aaron Rodgers as well for a year or two and then try to trade/draft a QB.

I'd much rather have Pete for 3-5 yrs than a total blind shot in the dark on a Ben Johnson type.

Raiders also just hired the best GM candidate who everyone has wanted for years.

Exactly. They need someone to come in for a couple years and get the football operations cleaned up. He's the perfect guy for that task. He knows how the coaching operations are supposed to work and how that role is supposed to function with a GM. If you are starting new, you need someone that can execute a complete overhaul and has had a high level of success.

This is the move the Cowboys should have made if they were actually serious about Jason Witten being groomed to be a future HC. Get Carrol in there and have Witten shadow him for a few years and get an understanding of how to run an operation.
