I'm sorry ... why didn't someone at THAT point label the man a child molester??????

eta: THIS WAS IN 1998. Insane.

There should be criminal charges brought against anyone who knew of this. It seems like this is a wide spread cover up. I would not be shocked to hear that he had raped hundreds of kids in 90s, 00s, and 10s. Many that could have been prevented if he had been arrested and prosecuted after they found out the first time.

He would have been labeled a sex offender which would have kept him from having any involvement with his charity and Penn State likely would have been forced to take away his office and access to facilities.

It definitely could be that. I guess we'll find out over the next few weeks.

There is no doubt in my mind this was an organized cover up. That is why two adiminstrators are being charged.

As for Sandusky's reign of horror, I would bet he's been doing this since his teenage years. You don't just wake up as an older man and start doing this crap.

i say PSU paid the grad assistant to keep hush or told him, if you want to keep your job, better be quiet.

I really think some don't truly understand how bad this is. This is not covering up a drug problem or a gambling problem or theft. This is covering up a scandal where a grown man sodomized lots of children.

I'm pretty sure that is a capital offense in some states.

Think about it this way...McQuery walks in and see's Sandusky raping a kid in the shower point blank with his own eyes. At this time McQuery was not some young scared kid himself...he was a grown 28 year old assistant coach. He has this image burned into his brain for life. whereever he goes in life he will never forget seeing what he saw....

Then after all this goes down, he knows that Sandusky was never so much as questioned about the incident by the real authorities. McQuery sees this creep STILL hanging out at the football facility...STILL seen bringing children into the facilities and to football games...

I'm telling you his silence was bought and paid for. I have no respect for this SOB, however his eye witness testimony is the most damning evidence in the case against Sandusky so he is going to skate--legally. But I promise you this---his career is over for all intents and purposes

While they still need it if they are getting the kids to testify? If not, charge him and anyone else you can.

We certainly don't know all of the facts and I would love to have more complete information before castigating someone, but I can't imagine any story or additional information coming out that could change or excuse what has happened.

I know this, Paterno refusing to discuss it or being defensive about it in his presser isn't going to help his cause any in the eyes of the public.

He would likely still be convicted if those kids actually testify (I know they aren't still kids at this point), but having a 3rd party eye witness puts the stake through his heart and he can't say its a kids word agaainst his. He is cooked.

I just hope whether legally or otherwise all of the players at PSU who had ANY knowledge of this crap get what they deserve--lose their jobs and have their reputations ruined and be publicly exposed as COWARDS

His defense team may argue that McQueary mistook simple locker room horse play for something it wasn't. They will point to the fact that he did nothing about it and surely he isn't the type of person that would let a child be raped, then go about life watching the alleged rapist around children and do nothing about it.

Curley, Paterno, and Schultz (and Mcquery)have no conscience.. read Curley and Schultz's answers to some of the grand jury questions and the internal inquiry earlier...they are saying they heard about some "horseplay" in the showers with Sandusky and a kid.

HORSEPLAY

After paterno himself stated that the Grad assistant called him and was Distraught and Disturbed about what he observed. They held a meeting the next day and your telling me MCQuery didn't lay it all out there about the disturbing shite that he saw?

And then they go on RECORD saying it was HORSEPLAY. These scum need to do hard time. The more I think about it the more my blood boils.

Joe has a press conference today at 12:20 PM EST. No details other than that as far as what the presser will go over.

Yes the defense will say that, but His testimony along with 8 or so victims ( and who knows how many additional victims may step up and testify now that this is all being made public) will put the jury over the top.

This wasn't one incident. this was a pattern and their are records, eye witness accounts, official conversations and him being banned from bringing children to the facilities, forced to retire...

The man is toast.

It is ARROGANCE. These guys thought they were untouchable. They only cared about protecting themselves and not those who can't protect themselves.

I didn't read this thread.

But given Paterno's history with Sandusky, it would be a safe assumption that Sandusky and Paterno has remained fairly close acquaintances given the nature of sandusky continuing to hang around the university and program. Given Paterno's history with Sandusky, it is inexcusable not to have followed through with said allegations. Paterno was too close to the source to not have gone more out of his way to see this got the proper attention it obviously deserves.

The more and more I read and think about all this, the more and more everyone involved, including Joepa, is criminally negligent at least.
