"Hi police, this is JoePa. I had a GA come to me last night and say they saw something disturbing. I didn't want to talk to anyone in the administration first, I just wanted to go straight to you guys. I have no way of knowing if these claims are baseless or if something actually happened, but I definitely wanted to immediately call you and let you know that something might have happened. But I don't know what. Have a good one."

Um, yes? If someone who reported to me came to me and said they saw someone raping a child. I would call the police that very minute and have the employee describe exactly what they saw to the police that minute. I wouldn't wait until the next day to tell my boss and then ignore the situation for 13 years. It's not really that complicated. Rape = call the police.

JoePa is complicit. As is the grad assistant, his father, the AD, the President, the business guy, and the parents of kids who suspected something and didn't call the police. It boggles my mind how anyone could think otherwise. Rape, murder = police call, not call to my superiors. That's the crap you do when you see someone stealing from a vending machine. When it's capital crimes, you call the freaking police. Duh.

At first I didn't think Joe should go, but after a day of thinking about it and reading about it I've changed my mind. The biggest issue I keep coming back to is that once he told the AD, nothing seemed to happen with it and he didn't pursue the issue any further. I feel like he did the right and smart thing initially then just accepted whatever shitty line of bullshite the AD fed him.

frick that worthless, old, spineless piece of shite. He enabled the abuse that followed. His legacy is tattooed with the blood of those kids. Again, frick HIM.

That is what gets me...how do these people live with themselves knowing now that not turning their heads the other way 10 or so years ago could have prevented innocent children from being molested by this sob.

if all this is true then this is by far the biggest coaching scandal I can ever think of

forget Woody Hayes or Leach or Mike Smith or O'Leary or anyone else

JoePa is the KING of Scandal

I do believe Joe is a coward but it would be legally stupid for him to answer reporters questions at a presser

I don't know how anyone can defend Paterno after reading this, especially when you look at the big picture. This pedo had a history that Paterno was somewhat aware of and he turned a blind eye. The guy was caught in the locker room raping a 10 year old boy, and you settle by taking away his keys??

People saying that Joe Pa is being target because he's an icon. I'm sorry, but as someone who makes a living of going into homes of kids and promising parents that he's going to be there for their kids, he has a responsibility like no other. He's a fraud no matter how you slice it.

This story just makes me completely ill. All these years, all these football seasons of looking at JoPa as some sort of life icon, a beacon of success for everyone who adhered to the straight line, to hard work and to dedication. Gone. I am completely speechless.

He should resign immediately.

The university should bulldoze that building. How can any athlete there ever feel anything but clammy creepiness whenever they are in the same place where these sordid, disgusting crimes were manifest?

If Sandusky needs a bullet, I would wrestle anyone of you to be first in line to hand it to him. What a worthless piece of excrement!

JoePa's ego is too big. He's gonna blindly fight this until the bitter end. It's the same reason he's still coaching.

Now we just need Bobby Bowden to come back for a few years and get the record from him.
