obody in their right mind would say Jordan is a far superior defensive player.
No one said this. Someone said the exact opposite. Both are retarded statements.

You think Lebron could guard the centers from Jordan's era?
Not the elite ones, no. But the mid level ones, yeah, he would do fine.

No he couldn't. That is so fricking retarded. You know how huge his strike zone would be? Michael at least had some baseball and golf background and he still kind of sucked.
Jordan looked like a retarded Gumby playing ball

He could throw the pads on and catch a TD in the superbowl next week.
and 6'6" Michael frickING Jordan, his airness, couldn't do that?
No I dont, I think he would get crushed

hahaha Jordan was a very physical basketball player and is thicker and taller than Randy Moss or AJ Green type receivers. Jordan was also one of the toughest basketball players I can remember.
You are just a moron.

and YES, terrible defense. Absolutely terrible.
Seriously? I recall the Pistons mauling Jordan every time he went up in the lane. I call BS.

Comparing stats is meaningless when Jordan's best years came in the 80's
Jordan won the scoring title 6 times in the 1990s.

No way Jordan could hope to defend all 5 positions like Lebron can and does
thats a massive exaggeration.
LeBron doesn't defend the very best of multiple positions. He barely got on Dirk in the Finals and when he did he got worked. Any PF/C with a halfway decent midrange game will simply shoot over him.
He can't defend a banger like Dwight or any other big center for an extended time either. The best he can hope to do it front them to deny the ball.
He may occasionally take a PF or C but he only does it b/c of the lineups the Heat run out there for offensive purposes and its always weak arse undersized dudes. He isn't some kind of stopper on bigs.
He can also get worked by small guards who can (and do) blow by him. It doesnt even have to be a Chris Paul. Guys like JJ Barea and Jason Terry (a dude who can only go right) can run circles around LeBron.

Oh so lebron > Jordan because LeBron would be a better football player? BRILLIANT logic, even for this board

You guys kill me with the "Lebron can guard all 5 positions" thing. I have never seen Lebron guard the Howards and Bynums of the world. And we all seen what happened when he attempted to guard Dirk in the Finals. A bunch of fadeaway jumpers in his eye.

K bro and LeBron couldn't hit a baseball

Has anybody mentioned that the OP is bullshite? I just listened to Cowherd's podcast today, and he definitely mentions Jordan's NC in college

I hate to be a downer and all in the Jordan parade, but Jordan really was a volume shooter a lot like Kobe. Other than his rookie and second year (he only played 18 games in 1985) and his final year , Jordan never played a season in which he did not shoot at least 22 times per game, and the average was probably more like 24.
To put that in perspective, Kobe Bryant, who is the greatest ball hog in the modern era has only managee 19.6 apg for his career. Or, if you want to look at it another way, Jordan played 15 seasons and had 24,537 shot attempts. Kobe is in his 17th season in the NBA has 23,636. BTW, Kobe currently leads all players this season by over 100 in shot attempts, so Kobe jacks it up A LOT.
Basically, Jordan was probably the greatest ball hog of all-time, but despite the fact that he shot the ball on average a hell of lot more than Lebron, if you compare their careers Jordan only averaged 1.5 more points per game to this point, had fewer assists, fewer rebounds, and a lower 3 point shooting percentage and Lebron won his first title at a younger age than Jordan.

Prob the BEST NC game I can recall. Ewing scored the 1st 8 points for the Heels with 4 goaltending calls. He was a BEAST in that game.

Lebron is the bigger guy. He can guard the 4 better than Jordan would. Other than that, Jordan was the better defender and it isn't that close.

You do realize that getting goaltending called against you is not a good thing, right? If he hadn't done this they most likely would have won the game but to you it is BEAST!
