I think if they switch teams we’re still having this debate but if there’s a ding to Willis it’s that he played on much better defenses that consistently put him in position to be as ruthless as possible
Willis was the best player on the best LB unit since the Dome Patrol. That counts for something. Add Justin Smith and that was arguably the league’s best front 7 during his prime
On the other hand, he played next to another inside LB that was a 1st team All-Pro 4x (Willis 5x) and they each feasted from the other being so damn good. You had no idea what either of them was going to do because they could both do anything at a high level, and if you neutralized one it often came at the expense of the other making a play. Navarro Bowman will never write a HoF speech but damn if he wasn’t as big a monster. Sucks injuries prematurely ended the careers of all 3

both incredible players. I guess it depends on the rest of your team. if you need a leader take Kuechly. If you already have another great LB running the defensive schemes and just need a player to put beside him, take Willis

I love these stupid arguments. Yeah well that’s my opinion so you have to respect it.
No, no I don’t. Your opinion is wrong. Every objective measure says you’re wrong. Your feelings don’t change that.
Give me Kuechly.

Yes. Your feelings have convinced you Patrick Willis and Luke Kuechly aren’t close statistically or otherwise as linebackers. You have no justification for why you think this way, only that’s how you feel

i never said a thing about statistics... so your ASSUMPTION is wrong, but we know what they say about assuming, or should i remind you?

you need justification for an opinion? i mean you are giving good justification of my opinion of you being a fricking clown, in this thread, but i could still hold the same opinion without the ample evidence being provided...

Luke.
He can compose a defense

Can I say I would take Luke Willis?
I mean, you cannot go wrong with either, and it is not a disservice to either to say the other.
Panthers had
Norman
Davis
Short
49'ers had
Bowman
the Smiths
Goldston and Whitmore
Both played on great defenses; both were absolute freaks of nature; both were fast, large, and knew the position and how the whole defense operated. I think there is a video clip out there discussing how Willis was able to give the assignments and checks for every player on the defense. We know Kuechly is legendary for practice and game film.

generally, yes, when you have an opinion about something, there is something that justifies the opinions. You don't just have opinions to have them. There is something that causes you to hold an opinion, especially one that states "and it isn't even close." What about WIllis makes him the better of the two LBs and it "not being close."
Yes, everyone is entitled to have their own opinion, but there are also bad opinions people have. This would be one of them. You have two LBs who are unquestionably the best LBs of their generation. Their objective statistics and accolades are very similar if not slightly favoring Kuechly, so to say one is better than the other and it not being close is just a bad opinion.

I don't get the PW is a far superior athlete to LK argument. LK had better shuttle, 3 cone, broad jump, and bench press than PW. Sure PW thew up a freak 4.4 at Mississippi pro day but that's just one metric to measure athleticism. Better agility, taller, and stronger at the same weight. LK is every bit as freak athletic as PW.

Former Niner fan (don't watch much NFL anymore) and I would go with Kuechly for coverage and knowledge of the other team's offensive scheme and approach. Willis was phenomenal, don't get me wrong, and he was my favorite player at that time, but Kuechly was just a notch above.

some of y'all REALLY take this place wayyyyyy too serious... my god
you really sat there and posted all of this shite just to try to convince me, huh? i'll throw you a bone... you sold me bruh... you win... i'm on your side now... whatever side that is, i'm on it...
disregard the fact that Kuechly took over 3x the amount of defensive snaps that Willis did in his career, only to have similar numbers as Willis, but yeah... let's go with "the stats are basically the same for both" argument... it took Willis 1/3 of the amount of snaps to get the same production, and in some stats MORE production than that of Kuechly...
jesus christ

Wagner was close but nobody else is right now.

shite like this makes it so easy to identify the 100 IQ people who think they’re more intelligent that everyone around them. the problem with the midwit is that they’re smart enough to be literate and functional, but not smart enough to have any self awareness
the types of people who claim to be “independent thinkers”

But used differently. Less jamming the line / pass rush and way more pass coverage with a skillset closer to a 3rd safety

Willis put up better numbers in a few categeories while playing 1/3 of the snaps of Kuechly.... actually, less than 1/3...

I have no idea what you’re talking about here unless you are somehow confused that the NFL only started tracking snaps in 2012, so most of Willis’ career wasn’t tracked. They both played virtually every snap they were healthy.
