These reporters are incredible. They want to crucify the board.

John Surma is handling this well. These questions are beyond idiotic.
I was thinking the exact same thing.

JoePa in my mind is now just as guilty for having this happen on his watch from 2002-2008
Actually Sandusky was first reported in 1998, but he was not prosecuted. Probably why he "retired" suddenly in 1999.
Paterno knew about the 1998 incident (at least, if not even more involved somehow in the decision not to prosecute), and then got the same type of allegations against Sandusky again in 2002. Yet, he just sat on his hands again.
With the Feds involved, he will be lucky if he's not charged in the cover up or for perjury.

lol, most awkward press conference ever. That spokesman was in a huge rush to get out of there.

WTF is a ginger grad assistant going to do on his own that hasn't already been done?
how about nuke Sandusky in the head with a fire extinguisher to stop a forceable rape.

The petulance you are hearing is coming from the student media types. I was one of them once, so I know. They think they know everything, are entitled to answers from everyone, and by training and arrogance believe they know best.

Is JoePa on suicide watch? Dude is going to be dead one way or the other inside of a year.

That was honestly one of the most impressive handlings of a crisis I've ever seen.

and allowed that POS to still be on campus with kids. Yeah...JOe did the right thing
So JoePa was the only person that allowed that son of a bitch to remain on campus???? This is what Im talking about, it wasnt just JoePa. It was the AD, Joe, and anyone else on that staff and administration.
Then why are you pissed about JoPa getting the axe? You don't believe he could have stopped kids from getting raped? The rest will get their due.

Imagine if you're Paterno getting out of bed to this news?
He's probably been to sleep for at least of couple hours by now

Got out of a meeting with Congressman Meehan (R-PA7) about 30 minutes ago. He said there will be a federal investigation and, once the President of PSU is gone, he thinks with 90% certainty that Tom Ridge will take over.

Nah, He's demented. He won't remember this tomorrow and head for work in the AM.

Surma did a great job IMO. Handled all the questions with confidence and authority. Dude looked in control the whole time which is more than anyone at PSU can say recently.

They'll get what's coming to them. JoePa shat in their cereal bowl earlier today with that stupid resignation statement. That's the attitude he has had all along. He was the face of the program and for all we know the guy who instructed for this to go away.

quote:there was already documentation that 2 cops had already addressed him about showering with boys and giving them hugs in the shower, in which he said he would not agree to stop doing that. yet the cops did nothing about it.
call the cops...no one did that.
All i'm saying if he would have went direclty to the cops at that very moment, it would have been very he said she said., and something i can see the brass and all the higher ups standing up for the guy for.
To bring someone like that down... that's not something phone call to the cops at night by a grad AD can do IMHO of a man of that stature. That's not how the game works. I think he played it right, outside of not stooping the physical rape at that time.
hell look now. it's bad enough as it is NOW, and we basically have 120% confirmation from everyone that he did it, and penn state fans/brass still don't want to believe it. Imagine if hte only person coming forward was as freaking ginger grad assistant talking about what he saw as he passed the shower.
Posted on 11/9/11 at 9:38 pm to pillowpants
And you would get away with it as Sandusky put the boys life in danger.
Posted on 11/9/11 at 9:38 pm to wope
Of course its a bad day for PSU football. The living legend goes out on allegations of sweeping rape under the rug. Should they be happy about the situation?
