ESPN would be absolute morons to fire Pat McAfee, his show is far better than the most of the garbage arse shows on ESPN since it’s not two or three idiots trying to yell louder than the others.

Norby is the reason Dan Patrick left espn. He's a notorious asshat fore-flushing worm of a human being.

Good for Pat for calling him out publicly.

Seez McAfee is not tied down to espn. He still owns his show and can probably walk at any moment and someone else will pay for his show rights... Or he could just go back to YT full time and have sponsors. Either way, he's got Fuk you $$ now and has already walked away from a $100M+ deal and will do it with espn, too.

No matter what you think of McAfee, this is a very good thing for content creators.

I'm also too old for the fratboy vibe, and I'm not his target audience

I came to this same realization earlier this year. As a white guy in my mid 30s who appreciates deeper dives and more in depth analysis, I am no longer part of Gameday's target audience.

Gameday should have replaced Corso with Spurrier the moment Spurrier retired from South Carolina. That was about the only change they really needed to make, but instead they keep dragging Corso out there even though it is painfully cringeworthy to see him talk on TV at this point and they added an obnoxious wrestling douche in McAfee.

My thoughts and link on Pat McAfee after talking to some people at ESPN, mostly talents:

•ESPN hired McAfee over Norby Williamson's head. Norby didn't want him. Pitaro and Magnus did.

•Norby is an old-school TV guy who doesn't value McAfee YouTube numbers.

•People at ESPN say Norby was behind the leak that ESPN wants to hire Colin Cowherd. Norby would prefer to replace McAfee with Cowherd. Cowherd is a bigger TV draw.

•McAfee's TV show was always going to be a struggle. Why?
Because the show before him -- Stephen A's -- is made up of a primarily black audience of NBA viewers. McAfee’s show, before ESPN, was a primarily white audience of football viewers.

Weak excuse. It's football heavy during football season, which is the entire time McAfee has been in that spot.

Kind of random but I felt like when McAfee retired for the Barstool gig, he got a lot of shite for passing down a few more years of a good NFL punting salary.

Dude has made that criticism look hilarious now. Props to him.

Having Aaron Rodgers on the show is enough to get him fired

McAfee retired at an all-pro level to go into media. I think he was making like $4M/yr.

Went to Barstool and they owned his show. So he left barstool to start his own and put it on YT to grow the numbers. He then struck a huge deal with Fanduel and then walked from that go to espn.

The whole time, he was also doing espn CFB color and WWE wrestling/announcing.

Apparently McAfee was not from a very well off family and said his only goal is to make as much money as he can as quickly as he can so his kids never have to worry about finances.

He will go wherever he can make the most and if that is not espn, then he'll go somehere else.

I bet he stays in the game about 10 more years and then retires when his kids get into sports. He's basically said as much after he had his first child, which was supposedly a bit unexpected.

For a guy who just retired from football like 6 years ago, he's doing better than anyone could have ever dreamed.

He's actually wearing a shirt like an adult in that clip. Maybe that's one thing ESPN had done right if they told him to dress closer to his age.

Oh absolutely. I'm not a fan at all, but I respect the hell out of what he has built for himself.

He’s better on his show than he is on College Gameday.

I’ve always wanted to know the real number of active or engaged people on espns daytime programming. They have to get a massive amount of their numbers from passive audiences like gyms or offices.

McAfee is a total blowhard. His kind of personality type always have a quick rise followed by a quick fall once people are annoyed by him. I hope ESPN continues to bleed money and viewers because of him.

I don't really like Pat, but a lot of people think he has given Gameday some energy that it needed. It might also help if they made it one hour, stopped the dead/dying kids stories, and finally retire Corso.
