I don't see the conference championship game surviving. It's value has been diminished and couple that with excessive travel...not looking good.

This is mostly bullshite and you know it. A 10-2 Auburn isn't going into Wisconsin and mowing down anyone especially in the dead of winter

That’s fine, but the 5 seed is going to smash the 12 more often than not.

I do think the first round would be far more “exciting” than the second, in which fully rested seeds 1-4 get to tee off on the survivors.

ETA: I think the matchup you described will be far outnumbered by games like UCF @ LSU.

Those frickign neutral site playoff games are going to be empty arse stadiums for the most part

Not many people have the want, nor the monetary means to do 4 straight road games

More on the 12-team rec: Playoff bracket would follow the rankings, with no modifications made to avoid rematches of teams that may have played during the regular-season or are from the same conference. The bracket would remain in effect throughout the playoff (no re-seeding).

Dumb, but I guess they had to do something with so many pointless bowl games that nobody cares about as consolation prizes.

I think we have to rank them using the BCS. That would prevent a 10-2 Clemson from being a top 4 seed and getting a bye because their schedule sucks mule penis.

Nice

So the 4 seed could play the 12 seed in the quarters and the 1 seed could play the 8

They will have to be strategic. Atlanta and Mercedes Benz might be one of the biggest winners here. Especially if the SEC championship game remains intact. Imagine two big games in Atlanta in a span of about three weeks. Sites like the Orange Bowl and the Fiesta could be destined for destitute.

Might want to rethink that part.

Counter point: more games
Will be meaningfully later in the season.

The more teams Playing for a playoff spot means more games actually mean something.

while correct, your argument doesn't work when you account for scale

if Bama-Auburn 2013 is worth 100, Oklahoma State-Baylor for the 12th spot is worth...like 5

there aren't enough 5s to add up to that 100

Yeah, I always thought I wanted more, but this is just too much. I guess if you are going to wreck the regular season, I understand allowing more teams to qualify to keep more people interested and teams relevant. Pride is right about those early games getting no attendance. But, it's all a TV show anyway, I guess.

They are fricking this up and I always repeat this, but:

- 8 teams
- 5 conf champs
- 3 at larges chosen by BCS
- Ranked 1-8 by BCS
- Top 4 get home games on NYE/NYD
- Remaining 4 follow current system of rotating semifinal and final games

That would be fricking perfect. The NYD/NYE games would be electric, it is a manageable timeline, it isn't an extra road game for the fans of the top 4, etc.

Im nervous, i got that pit in my stomach they may frick up the season. Im using bourbon to calm my nerves as I prepare for the game

Now, im in the deer stand during the rut getting updates because if we lose, meh

But it looks like conference champions will be the only ones eligible for the a Bye. So the Kick-Six retains a lot of value

College football got popular on pageantry, tradition, and the importance of the regular season

Taking basically all of those away with the corporate environment, skyrocketing prices, transfer portal, and now this, seems iffy to me

I mean we are moving so close to it simply being minor leagues

exactly. this will be football associated with colleges, but it won't be "college football" anymore

also, we aren't stopping at 12
