Why are you shitting on Dalton? Yes he's a known commodity that doesn't need to e explored. So that angle makes sense, but "he's not much better" is just not true and definitely not the reason he isn't playing

I’m not shitting on Dalton. I said he’s a serviceable QB for a game or two and can probably win you one of those games. But at his age, he’s not going to considerably improve your team’s overall season win total. That’s just my opinion

Dalton winning a game or two would probably increase their overall total.

They’re tracking for zero wins as it stands right now. They’re awful.

That’s why I put the word “considerably” in my post. He probably is worth a game or 2 more than Young.

What the frick? 3 posts to many.

I think the Panthers roll with him to another #1 pick. They were finishing last in the South anyway. Got to hope you see some improvement and then decide what to do in the off season. Dalton isn't making that team much better. Maybe 1 or 2 more wins

In 2026?

They don’t have a first or second round pick next year.

They don't have a 2nd, they have a 1st.

They have THE 1st overall

They have a 2025 first. It will be the 1.1 pick. Tepper will frick it up and trade for a 3rd rounder and some beef jerky.

You hope for the best at this point, and assuming they get the first overall pick, they probably trade Bryce for a 4th or 5th and go again on the QB train (if they can cap-wise). Assuming his year is arse again, it will be painfully obvious he's not the guy.

you think he's worth a 4 or 5.

Wilson and Jones went for peanuts. At least Jones looked competent at times.

The problem is there's not likely to be a franchise worthy QB a top this draft

Former first round pick, I'd throw a 4 and kick the tires.

Along with most of the defense. Defense is horrible too.

I suppose that depends on what you expect from the team. If you think moving on to Dalton will suddenly make them playoff contenders and give them a legit shot; sure roll the dice. But if you look up and down the roster and realize the team has holes everywhere, and making that one change won't do much other than possibly screw up your higher draft status; why bother. Play that season out, keep evaluating your current coaching staff to determine if you need/want to reset that in the offseason as well. And do your due diligence on all of the top QBs in the 2025 draft

That’s a really good point. It’s hard to say how much of the problem is Young and how much is the Panthers.

I know people are going to say he was only good ‘cause Bama, but that’s not entirely accurate. He made plays there. That win at Texas was 100% him because everyone else played like cheeks, particularly his o-line.

So there’s probably some talent there and maybe it’ll take a while to see it like it did with Darnold and Baker. Maybe even a change of scenery.

I think you have to let him play, it’s not like they will turn into a playoff team with Dalton. The most likely scenario is that you trade Young and go back to the draft for a new solution. Benching him effectively sets his trade value at the floor and it’s inconceivable that he’d play any worse than he has, so keep him in and see if you can get some additional value on the market later.

Too early to tell, and it's a possibility you are correct. But if there isn't you can invest in the OT or offensive weapons, also both areas of need for Carolina

They gave up DJ Moore, 2 firsts and 2 seconds for him.

And this is why you never trade up towards the top of the draft just to take whoever you eventually think is the best one. They thought they’d do their due diligence AFTER the trade and wind up with the better of either Young or Stroud. You have to do your due diligence BEFORE the trade and move up with conviction to get YOUR guy.
