ETA: here's their demands

LINK

quote:

A group of Pac-12 football players from multiple schools is threatening to opt out of both preseason camps and games until its negotiations with the league regarding concerns about racial injustice, their safety during the coronavirus pandemic and other demands are completed.

A text message obtained by ESPN says the group's goal is to "obtain a written contract with the Pac- 12 that legally ensures we are offered the following protections and benefits."

The group's list of demands, according to the text message, includes safe play amid the pandemic, fighting racial injustice, securing economic rights and fair compensation, protecting all sports and obtaining long-term health insurance.

People familiar with the group's mission told ESPN that the central issue it wants to address with the league and its schools is racial injustice.

Racial injustice meaning under-representation of white athletes?

Sucks for Oregon, but ultimately the conference is irrelevant in regards to college football.

Hope they go through with it solely so the Smirnoff conference of college football folds for good.

What do college players stand to benefit by not playing? College is basically an audition for the NFL. Who’s advising these retards? They make demands with what leverage? That they won’t play this year? During a pandemic? When the season is already dangling by a thread? Ok. Pac12 won’t play. Hope the NFL hopeful seniors are happy w their woke points.

Pac 12 sucks. Only a matter of a time before more student athletes start thinking they're more than amateurs

If they really don't want to play football, they don't have to. They'll be way more white dudes on the team equalizing the racial makeup of the team

I'm pretty sure they have tons of groups advising them. The players are too dumb to realize they're being used.

If you would have told me 4 years ago that the PAC12 would golf before the BIG XII, I would have laughed in your face and told you that you couldn’t be more wrong

Now? Laughing in someone’s face is frowned upon and the BIG XII is less of a joke than the PAC-12

There are just many other black, Hispanic and other players that would jump at the chance to play on a scholly.

I’m gonna need to see a list of players who are in this group and how many of them have NFL potential/aspirations.

If I’m a player that is planning to make this season an audition for the NFL, I’d be pissed at these losers threatening my livelihood.

Do professional athletes receive long-term health insurance?

I’m pretty sure I had to sign shite when I was done that absolved the teams I played for from ever being liable for any future injury issues that I might face from the injuries I had when playing.

It’s a fine idea for these Pac 12 athletes to shoot for long-term health insurance. But I don’t know how realistic it is.

Time to start pulling scholarships. I'm sure these schools can find kids who would appreciate the opportunity and not bitch and whine about everything.
