Considering the high profile media coverage of players upon their arrest, the NFL is trying to send the message to its staff that is not willing to allow players to sully the reputation of the NFL.
Changes to the disciplinary code include:
~ Policy violations will have longer suspensions and higher fines.
~ Conduct undermining or risking the integrity or reputation of the NFL will be subject to disciplinary action, even if the conduct is not criminal.
Club staff and employees will be held to a higher standard of social responsibility, albeit higher than that to which the players must adhere.
That is kinda amazing. With a fair minded commissioner I guess it might be ok... but wow... I'm shocked the players signed off on this when it essentially gives the league the ability to shitcan someone who didn't do anything wrong
I'm also surprised that Al Davis hasn't tried to take advantage of this yet... and claim some player he wants to fire violated league conduct policy... or maybe he did when he fired Kiffin?

There are weasel words in it I'm sure. Stuff like "conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the National Football League".
Didn't Pacman got suspend without being convicted?

I believe he is refering to the outrage BEFORE Vick was even charged compared to Big Ben the last couple weeks. There was a rush to kill Vick before he was even charged, but a much slower walk to justice for Big Ben

Well, guess my perspective is different
Conventional wisdom is now that Ben is a moron (helmet incident) and probably a rapist (prior rape allegation) who got off... which seems possible if not likely
For Vick? He had his priors too (flipping off fans, ron mexico, hidden marijuana container at the airport)... so when a story breaks that he owns all the land where a dog fighting ring is based... it gets hard not to believe that too
I think both have been tried and convicted in the court of public opinion

We are not talking about whether either guy is guilty or innocent...we're talking about the rush to judgement over killing dogs versus a "wait to see" attitude over a rape accusation....

Well, I think that most people thought of Ben as a good guy before all of this and people relaize that women try to take advantage of athletes. Mick Vick was considered a thug from the get go and dogs hit home to alot of people

Devil's advocate here (cause I don't want to defend Big Ben)
But a false claim of rape could happen against a celebrity... I'm struggling to figure how a dog fighting ring based on your property wouldn't be your responsibility?
