Let’s say Oklahoma can join the SEC, Big10 or Pac12. You have to stay with one team and the other goes. Who would it be? OK State or Texas? You might be able to still play one yearly out of conference but if you cut ties with one who would it be?

They already decided to hide from Texas when they joined the SEC.

The way I see it, if you can play A&M every year in exchange for Texas, that seems like a good deal.

Most OU fans couldn't point out Stillwater on a map if their life depended on it.

Of course, they probably couldn't point out Norman, either, but that's not the point I'm trying to make here

Probably not the one that brings in more money, is more relevant, that they hate more, and that provides one of the most unique settings/atmospheres in CFB

Yeah.

They can't afford to cut ties with Tulsa.

OU-Texas is a historically great rivalry. It’s still great when one team or the other sucks. It exemplifies what rivalries are supposed to be.

And FWIW - they played as nonconference rivals up until 1996.

Why would they dump that?

I know I'm just an OU simpleton, but was this supposed to be funny? HOw does it apply to:

Granted. I don't hold it against you, though, fam. Have lived in Oklahoma two different times in my life

Yes.

The joke, however, fell flat. I'm no Sebastian Maniscalco

It does not, in fact, apply to every one of those points. I am not proud of the incongruence.

I do thank you for giving credit where it's, due, though. Makes me feel a little better about my faux pas.
