recruiting thugs and having a guy punch someone on national TV are not similar in any way

I agree. The impact of everyone actually being able to see it is pretty powerful. Also this is how the guy acted on the field, not just what an arse he might be off the field.

Both of these happened before message boards were big (hell, Cecil played when the Internet wasn't even in most houses).

Hood is a scrub who will never see any real playing time.

More importantly, they didn't occur on national television, with sports reporters showing replay after replay on ESPN.

Tenn. has a recruit who helped rape his cousin. USC used to have Frostee Rucker who was accused of multiple rapes, hell LSU had Cecil back in the day. None of those team had any ill effect in recruiting, one punch from one guy won't affect Oregon.

The UT recruit story was circulated among a lot of SEC fans via the internet & word-of-mouth. Not many people outside of the SEC are aware of it. Still, it remains to be seen...plenty of other SEC schools could negatively recruit using this.

I've watched CFB closely for 20 years & I don't know who Frostee Rucker is. Besides, Cali's a huge state with a ton of talent; it'd be hard to dry up USC's recruiting bed over that.

Cecil Collins didn't come to LSU with any sort of horrible past incidents (at least that anyone was aware of). He was eventually kicked off of LSU's squad due to off-field issues. That's hard to hold against the university when they did the right thing.

With Blount, it's going to be shown over & over & over nationally.

Nope, but here's a link to John Canzano's latest article (he's probably the premier writer/blogger on all things Oregon):

Blount must go...
THanks.

How?????

one is public and on the field, while those guys had off field issues

Also how many recruits did Miami lose after their fight with FIU?

Oregon is recruiting kids from around the country, not Oregon, and this was their national spotlight to make an impact. Miami didn't have the issue as they were recruiting mostly local kids who already knew plenty about the Canes

How would you guys feel about LSU having a player pull a stunt like Blount did tonight?

The same way, but obviously with a hint of regret.

Maybe its just me but I don't think recruits or their parents will be affected much by the actions of one player who won't be on the team next year anyway.

Also, it wasn't just the fact that he got in a fight. He got in a fight after being beaten by a school he had promised an arse-kicking or whatever to, a school they probably should have beaten given their conferences, and posting negative yardage for his individual performance. Not to be dismissive or glib, but I don't think "swagger" in that situation - I think he made Oregon look desperate and pathetic in that situation.

He finished the evening with eight carries for minus-five yards. His final run to the locker room, with all of those bodies tangled on him, unable to stop him, ends up the first time all night the guy looked imposing.

I am a USC fan from the get go and a dyed in the wool PAC 10 guy, but that was a HUGE pussy move by Blount.

He needs to be shown the door, never mind the bench. College football doesn't need that garbage, period.

If the Big Bald White Dude doesn't somehow see what happens and hold the 5 guys back, Blount gets umped by the Bose team and it gets out of control

Also, what is up w/ this quote by Blount:

"On my way to the locker room, I seen a guy raise a chair at me, like he was going to throw a chair at me, and the next thing I know, one of the fans came over and hit me,''

Nothing like that at all in the video.

i didnt see any chairs in the gif but if you look to the right before he charged, there was a guy who had his hand in the air and he said "F" you, and he ran over a swung at the player
