ND is ineligible for a first round bye. They will host in the first round.

Four conference champions will be seeded 1-4. ND isn’t in a conference, so the highest seed they can get is #5.

I mean thats what Sankey and Petitti want but it's to protect the other conferences and make sure they don't get screwed. nothing wrong with that imo

They should really go to a hybrid system with the 2 highest-ranked conference champions guaranteed the top two seeds then the 5 highest-ranked conference champions guaranteed to be in the field but no more than that. This Big XII / ACC issue is going to continue to happen. There is a reason the 5 and 6 were so coveted this year and will continue to be so year after year under this current format.

An an ISU fan you should be ecstatic that they don’t match. If you beat ASU and Boise loses you slide in as the 4 seed and get a bye.

ND is going to surprise some folks. Their defense is pretty legit, they have a good run game, and their QB is a solid dual threat.
The SEC is not as dominate as years past. IMO, it's anyone's game in the playoffs...though, I do think that Oregon has the best chance of taking it. They put so much pressure on teams with their scoring offense - just hard to keep up.

It just seems like a down year, like last season. Michigan pulled a good draw to win. I could see ND do the same if they don't have to run a gauntlet.
