One year ago today, Rudy Gobert touched all the microphones and killed sports

To be fair the actual killing didn't happen for another 2 days but yea. Pretty crazy to think what happened in a 48 hour period. We went from literally packed basketball arenas in both the NBA and conference tournaments, plus full spring training games, to everything shutdown for 1/4 of a year with a snap of a finger. Will make for a wild 30 for 30

One of the strangest weeks of my entire life, and I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling that way

Gonna have to find that big east tournament thread from last year. That first half of Johnnies game was the last sporting event for a long time and was an eerie thing to watch

Yanking the players off the court in OKC was so eerie.
I know it’s easy to look back and nitpick but there was a lot of uncertainty and anxiety about this shite at that point.

I got sent home thinking it might be a nice 3-day weekend
Never went back

I remember the Kings players warming up and being told to leave the court and for the fans to leave the game.

I remember watching the Dallas game and Mark Cuban just threw his hands in the air when they announced everything being shut down. What a weird time to be a sports fan that was and for the next few months.

Anyone remember watching SportsCenter after the NBA announced its pause, and SVP turning horrified at something?

Him and Justin Turner are the biggest serial killers of 2020. They’re still counting bodies to this day.

My 5 month paid vacation started a year ago this week. I won't experience that joy until I retire 40 years from now.

I’m still surprised Donovan Mitchell didn’t beat his arse for that.

I thought it was Wednesday 3/11/20? Was it 3/9?

I think so. My last day in the office was 3/16. Only way I remember is St Patrick’s Day the next day setting up a makeshift home office, thinking it would be a few weeks. Schools were cancelled here later that week and it was another couple of weeks before they finished the year in virtual.

Just checked. It was 3/11/20 not 3/9.
