ol so being forced to leave the college you choose or never play in a bowl game isn't punishment? I also think its funny that people think they can just transfer to any school and demand to be on the team.
The NCAA never promised them this. Joe Paterno and his staff did. They lied. Had they not been covering up a pedophile it would have happened. Don't blame the NCAA for this. Blame the administration at Penn State and Paterno, and add it to their list of crimes.

I'm coming into this thread late, so I'm sure this has been said...
1) That question has been asked many times.
2) The only players who could arguably say that they are being punished are those who had wins vacated...and even then, they know what really happened in those games.
The only real question out there is one of precedent. I don't disagree with the penalty handed down. Heck, it was well thought out and minimizes the impact on those who did nothing wrong while being "punitive and corrective" in nature. The problem I have is with the manner in which this came about. If we can be assured that this is a one-off, then I'm fine with it.

We have a sick culture that allowed children to be repeatedly raped over a 4-decade span. But come on guys, what about football?
Agreed. These idiots scare me after something like this happens.

However, they did still help build MANY, MANY good young men through their teachings. (Not Sandusky, of course.)
However is such a bullshite word. Anything that was used before it can be completely ignored, since however implies this is what is really important here and the main point. They used this holier than thou image when they were consciously allowing Sandusky to rape these kids. The program was run by monsters and they absolutely deserve everything they're getting in spades. Go frick yourself.

Your 2 sentences basically contradict each other...in the first one you say they are being punished because they are being "forced" to leave the school they chose, which is a completely incorrect statement, and in the second sentence you state that you think its funny that people think they can just transfer freely insinuating that they are aren't going to be able to transfer and go play somewhere else.
I don't think anyone said they were going to "demand" to do anything. The players can transfer to any school that will willingly take them and they do not have to sit out for a year. If they decide they WANT to transfer (because they do not HAVE to transfer) and the school decides they WANT them on their team then how is that a punishment?
