The tradition was to do things right regardless of the situation, and sadly, the creators of that tradition did not live up to the standards they set. However, they did still help build MANY, MANY good young men through their teachings.
You know this how? Because Penn St says so? There is a thread on here with a link to an OTL report. Watch it.

. The coach, AD, VP and President covered up the Sandusky incidents, allowed the guy to continue to roam the campus raping children, all under the "watch" of those in charge. They did this for the reputation of the football program and school. That is a systematic problem and that system must be destroyed.
That system was destroyed when they were fired/died.

PENN STATE SYSTEM HAS CANCER...........football program a major part of the system.........DUMPING CHEMOTHERAPY ON THE WHOLE SYSTEM.

As evidenced by all the rational reactions by a lot of Penn State students, alums and fans.

Yes, P&G, SANDUSKY used his position to do that. Not the football program.
Correct, his position in the football program was used to lure unsuspecting kids into being raped by Sandusky. He committed the heinous acts in the FOOTBALL locker room and showers. You think people associated with the football program didn't know this was going on? They SAW him doing it, they thought he was creepy, etc. They knew EXACTLY what was going on and NO ONE did anything to stop it. It was simply overlooked by multiple people involved in the program on mulitple levels and thats why we are discussing the punishments to the football PROGRAM (not the players) today.

You make the biggest example you can out of the institution so you don't have an institutional cover up like this again.
The players are not being punished being that they can immediately transfer and lose zero eligibility.

The program turned into a cult and it needed to be corrected.
No it did not. Four people were directly involved. They weren't there anymore. The one raping has been convicted. What more is there to do? The children are not being raped anymore.
And as far as him being in Spanier's box, imagine that. He was one covering for him. And not everybody looks for conflict. The board of trustees could have made a scene and tried to make him leave, but there was no legal reason he couldn't be there, granted he shouldn't have.

on January 11, 2012, former PSU linebacker Brandon Short cited two independent sources that saw Jerry Sandusky sitting in President Graham Spanier’s luxury box during Joe Paterno’s final game as a head coach at Beaver Stadium on October 29, 2011. A number of PSU Board of Trustee members sat alongside Sandusky in this suite.
shite like this is why you punish everybody!
This deserves a repost.

If the guys in charge had acted properly, it would not have continued for years and years and years and years.

You know this how? It is obvious you read the ESPN ticker and came up with your own conclusion. Read the Freeh report. Hell read some of these threads.

This idea of "it was only 4 guys and they're all gone" now is 100% unarguably, indisputably WRONG. Just get off this board and go read about it. You don't know what the frick you're talking about. You're saying shite that is 100% untrue.

Please, link me up so I can "educate" myself on his opinion and the depth of it. I am not angry as most of you all are, I just honestly want to understand and find some way to justify this whole thing...

And they didn't obviously. But it is not going on anymore.

So you think the NCAA should force the players to stay at PSU, to spare the football team from getting beaten on the field?
I don't think the players who are left over after every FBS school in America rummages through the program deserve to lose 88-7 to Ohio State--no.
You can't tell the coaches to prepare for a season and then have every starter leave the program less than a month before the season starts.

Some of us have lives and can't pay attention to everything going on with certain things. I watched the announcement by Emmert, but have not had time to check out the Freeh Report. Forgive me for not having my life's load of attention pointed to this despicable situation.
