sarcasm? oh I forgot to notice the sarcasm font.
My bad if I was wrong in my assumptions.
But it's hard to see the sarcasm when you guys in the gaming board take your gaming pretty seriously.

I mean it may seem that we take it seriously and it's hard to argue we don't, but we are all IRL friends. It's our way of hanging out, cracking up during the week, and being competitive.
I really don't understand why PCT and mattz chose this as slight. 1-2 hours night gaming and still maintaining a career, a social life, a girl on the side, 4 days a week in the gym....all in their hometown

But you predicted OKC in the Finals after the playoffs started, i believe.
So yea, your Mavs pick was rendered moot at that point.
So when the Thunder/Mavs meet for an epic WC Finals, it will be a dream series for me.

You don't avoid due to speculation. Phil Jackson won a bunch of championships because he knew to run the offense through his closers in winning time
Whoa whoa whoa now, that is completely off base.
The Lakers won titles simply because they were better than other teams, not because of there work in crunch time.
See here for even more proof:

In fact, and there's been multiple articles written about it, the Lakers actually get outscored in crunch time with Kobe in there the past couple of seasons, so that kinda proves your point wrong, IMO.

Durant is more clutch than Westbrook and no one in their right mind would argue that
The FACTS would argue that, so I'm not sure what you're attempting to get at there with the snide remark lol.

I bet some of these people would be shocked at which NBA team has owned crunch time since 08.

Close games are so random.
I'm sure most guys will laugh and mock me for claiming randomness dictates close games wayyyy more than most think, but I'd submit to you that the 2 best records in the entire NBA this year in games decided by 3 points or less are the 7-1 Hawks and the freaking 8-2 Wizards.

As part of digging into advanced statistics to assess Kobe Bryant in crunch time, we looked at how well different teams score at the very end of very close games.
And we found something surprising: By a key measure of team performance, the New Orleans Hornets led the pack by a country mile.
Over the last five years, in the final 24 seconds of games his team trailed by a point or two, or were tied, the Hornets have scored 102 points on 86 possessions (as of a few weeks ago). That's an offensive rating of more than 118 points per 100 possession.
Remember that number. 118.
Now, consider that most of the NBA is below 85, and 27 teams are below 100. That's a blowout.
I'm firmly on board with my boy Henry Abbot.:

There's a lot of support out there for the idea that the best players should just keep the ball -- defense be damned. And it's not the worst thing to do. The Lakers, thanks to Bryant, seldom find the open man in crunch time, and still manage to have a slightly-above-average offense and, oh yeah, five championships in the Bryant era.
It's just that if you want the best possible results, I'm with Paul in thinking that the guy who should get the ball is not the most famous, but the most open.

They're pretty similar, but I think Abbot is probably a little better with weighting subjective observations with his anaylsis. And Hollinger basically only writes insider stuff now. I got the log in info for a Cavs fan who had an insider account off of realcavsfans last year, but the guy canceled his subscription after the decision. I'm actually still logged into the guy's account on my work computer and changed his favorite team to the Heat last week

The link doesn't prove this at all though. It also depends on how you define crunch time. The link is talking about the last 24 seconds of a game. The Lakers are just average, not bad or good. Why would anyone define clutch as basically just the last 1-2 shots of a game though? If you look at the last 5 minutes then Kobe and the Lakers are stil very good in the clutch. I would imagine Jackson's Bull teams and his Shaq Laker teams were better in crunch time then his current Lakers team. Those teams actually moved the ball and got other people involved.

That's where you're wrong though.
The article showed that in the final 5 minutes of close games, the usual standard "clutch" time, the Lakers with Kobe the last couple of years or so, were actually outscored by there opponents.
That number basically tells me they won titles in spite of not being "clutch", which is certainly possible.
