If you look at the last 5 minutes then Kobe and the Lakers are stil very good in the clutch
Found the article:
LINK
quote:
we draw the line at less than 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter or overtime, with the game within five points
quote:
Bryant has posted a minus-13 plus-minus in his 224 minutes of clutch situations. That is to say, the Lakers have, quite shockingly, been a losing team with Bryant on the floor down the stretch over the past two seasons.
Now I know this comment was about Kobe, and not just the Lakers, but I'd imagine Kobe is pretty much on the floor for all of there clutch moments. And if there was a rare instance here or there where he wasn't, i'm sure it doesn't affect the end result by THAT much to not still prove my point.

The article showed that in the final 5 minutes of close games, the usual standard "clutch" time, the Lakers with Kobe the last couple of years or so, were actually outscored by there opponents.
It doesn't though. It talks about the last 24 seconds.
quote:
You'd expect Los Angeles to also have one of the league's best offenses in crunch time, right? Especially with the ball in the hands of the player most suited to those moments.
That's not what happens, though. In the final 24 seconds of close games the Lakers offense regresses horribly, managing just 82 points per 100 possessions. And it's not a simple case of every team having a hard time scoring in crunch time. Over Bryant's career, 11 teams have had better crunch-time offenses, led by the Hornets with a shocking 107 points per 100 possessions in crunch time, a huge credit to Chris Paul.

That is wrong though. It is actually a +13 not a -13. 82games

Bro, I quoted directly from the link.
He talks about both, but the Lakers being -13 are with 5 minutes left. Check the 2nd post with a link I posted, it's a different, more accurate link.

You're not reading the link man, I'm not sure what else to tell you.

Can you measure mental toughness?
If so, you're the only person in the world who can do so.

Obviously the writer read the stat wrong. He quoted 82 games saying Bryant has +/- of -13 but when you look at 82 games he has a +13.

You're reading the link wrong. The article wasn't post after this 2011 season, so now that is not the obvious mistake.

Kobe has finished with a positive +/- in the clutch for at least the last 4 years. So yeah, it doesn't even matter what the article says because it is wrong.

I'm pretty certain the article isn't just "wrong".
You can clearly see the number of minutes or different as well, so it's fairly obvious he is either adding multiple seasons or playoffs or something.
But I highly doubt the article is just useless because it's wrong.

He said over multiple seasons, but like I said, accorind to 82games.com(the source he cited) Kobe has finished with a positive +/- for at least the last 4 seasons. The article is still right about Lebron being better in the clutch, but it is wrong in saying the Lakers have been outscored in the clutch. Which would make this:
quote:
In fact, and there's been multiple articles written about it, the Lakers actually get outscored in crunch time with Kobe in there the past couple of seasons, so that kinda proves your point wrong, IMO.
Wrong.

"That number basically tells me they won titles in spite of not being "clutch", which is certainly possible."
Did you miss Kobe hitting big shots in crunch time over and over during their championship runs? Show me the facts that Westbrook is more reliable in the final minutes than Durant. You are the same idiot who tried to convince this board that Kendrick Perkins is a good player so you are a troll, fool or combination of both. Perkins probably has more fouls than points in this playoffs lol.

Durant ended the Denver series single handedly and he closed the door on Memphis last night, end of story. They try to get the ball to him time and time again in the final moments for a reason. He is more reliable than Westbrook to close the show.
P.S. Kendrick Perkins sucks

Matrix gonna shut down Durantula next round

I think he would have if Scott Brooks had a done a better job of getting him the ball. You can't walk the ball up, burn off half the shot clock, and then start setting picks to get him the ball. Even the announcers stated that much. They have to get Durant the ball earlier in the possession.

THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING.
But apparently it's just Durant being unable to get open.
