Maybe in terms of overall damage to the program, but it blows for the fanbase. While I doubt our Buckeye friends thought they can be MNC material, they sure as hell probably thought the Rose Bowl is within reach.

@darrenrovell 1 year bowl ban won't affect Ohio State's finances a bit. In fact, they might make more $ by not traveling to a bowl.
this is messed up

@darrenrovell Financial affect on sanctions is directly related to record. USC is in better shape $ wise because team has played well.
this makes sense

No it isn't.

Put aside the actual penalties, look at everything else that has happened.

We lost one of the best coaches in OSU history, lost one of the best QBs (statistically) in OSU history, lost multipe players for parts of the 2011 season.

So the guys who were involved with tat gate, not only got to play in last years bowl game, they get to play in the upcoming bowl. Screws over next years seniors that had nothing to do with it.

Not really. The whole "suffering fanbase" thing is completely overblown, especially if the B1G still lets them play in the CCG.

This is what pisses me off. We should have held ourselves out of a bowl this year.

I'm only mad because "experts" said no bowl ban. When this stuff first came out I wanted all those guys kicked off the team (still do honestly; don't sell your gold pants/big X title rings and expect me to feel that you're giving 100% for MY school) and expected a bowl ban of at least a year.

I too think they could have competed for the national title next year, but oh well, life moves on

Its actually a post season ban, not a bowl ban. So they won't be playing in the CCG.

Wonder how this is going to affect recruiting if at all.

I wonder what Urban told all the recruits, and if he told them he expected a bowl ban for one year.

I don't think recruits will be drawn back by it. A portion of them will end up redshirting next year anyways.

OSU, while I have nothing against them at all, gets a fricking slap on the wrist compared to the absolutely ridiculous sanctions we got.

And people still think that the ncaa didn't have an absolutely transparent agenda against us?

WRONG

They are banned from the CCG & Bowl Game next season, and will lose 9 schollys over the next 3 years.

They also have recieved 2 more years of probation.

The situations are far different.
