Ohio St fans upset with rich corporations asking for 10.00 a month donations for NIL

Just wanted to share this from a YouTube podcast. The major gripe from Ohio St fans with NIL is that corporations who are making millions get all the conveniences and allowances for these games, and regular fans get pushed to the side, get shafted yet are now being asked by the richest to contribute or you’re not really a fan of Ohio St. My take would be, I wouldn’t mind giving to a program, but if corporations get something extra for giving, so should we the average fans.

Welcome to Earth.
The average fan (or person for that matter) is looked at as human livestock by the rich and powerful.

Similar to getting asked by a retailer to donate to such n such charity. Customers make donations and corporate gets credit for helping out the charity.

No, my take is. If want you more from the average fan, give us extra considerations in return.

If I was asked to donate $10 a month in order for LSU to have the best recruiting class and help win a championship, I would do it no problem

If I was asked to donate to LSU, in return for better food selections at concessions and easier access. I would do it in a heartbeat.

What do you think you'd be due for your generous $10?

Yeah, sign me up for $20

Multiply that times 100,000, that is what they’re asking. What are average fans due in return for a cool $million? That is the real question.

We have a top three roster. Getting better players isn't the issue.

What if Alabama fans come along and do $20 a month? Do you do $30 a month?
$50?
$100?
$1,000?
At a certain point, if CFB is going to be a business, it needs to be forced to act like one. That means the athletics departments who make the money are the people paying the players.
Is there any comparable to NIL, where people put a ton of money into something that:
1) Has no hope for a return on investment
2) Is not for a charitable cause

CVS was sued for using customer donations at checkout to fund a corporate philanthropy pledge
In November 2021, US pharmaceutical giant CVS announced a $10 million commitment to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to be delivered over three years. Introducing its pledge, CVS’s social responsibility team said the donations would support families dealing with diabetes and fund research to eradicate health disparities. The company also said it would “host an in-store fundraising campaign at all CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide during National Diabetes Month to give customers an opportunity to support the ADA.”
What CVS omitted, according to a lawsuit filed earlier this year in federal court in New York, is that the donations collected from customers through in-store fundraising weren’t going to be in addition to the initial pledge. Rather, they would be used in lieu of donations coming from CVS’s coffers.

I wouldn't mind it. In fact I have suggested that Tigerdroppings start such a fund. I would contribute to it.
