I like it, Tiger had that 1 bad 3 hole stretch, and the rest of his round was pretty good once again.

They're wrong. Peterson was the first guy to tee off, therefore first to finish at E.

Well that would be awesome. Now only if they would make them a featured group I would be in heaven.

I still don't understand 1, how most of the fools are STILL hitting driver off the tee and going into the rough. And 2, why no one else hits the low stinger shot that Tiger does that runs for forever.

I agree completely. Watching Tiger, Phil, Bubba yesterday was like watching a real pro and two neanderthals. If Phil would employ this strategy he would have won a couple opens.

Bubba golf and US Opens apparently don't mix too well

ETA: The guy in last place his 3 of 28 fairways, 10.71%

It's not easy to hit that shot as far as Tiger does. The fact that Tiger can basically hit punch shots off the tee as far as others are hitting their drivers speaks to his talent.

I knew Bubba was done before he started. His strategy was basically that he figured he was going to be in the rough a lot anyway, so he might as well hit it as far as he can to give himself the shortest shots to the greens. The problem is that you just can't get the ball on the green from the rough, period. It's amazing what Bubba has done in his career without at coach, but he would've benefited from one this week.

I was thinking as much. But it seems like guys that can drive the ball as far as him could do it.

You'd be surprised, but there are a lot of guys who can't flight it down with the type of power that he can. There's a major difference between unleashing a driver and delofting a club face like that

The real shame is that Tiger didn't go to the stinger over the past 3 years when he's been driving all over the golf course. If I had a shot like that in my bag, I'd hit it on every hole. He's almost guaranteed to put the ball in play off the tee every time...that's a huge advantage.

I wonder if it was because he couldn't hit it anymore. The injuries probably didn't help any.

He couldn't hit it with the Haney golf swing. One of the main things Foley wanted was for him to be able to hit that again

Overheard one of the commentators say that Bubba had said this course was too hard for him before he even played it. Sounds like he just doesn't have his head in the game.
