So are we supposed to believe the Board of Trustees had no idea this was going on? The more I think of this, the more I think that this cover up is bigger than the football coach, the AD , or the president of PSU.

They want to keep their jobs, they should take a lie detector test about their knowledge of said situation. Pass. You keep job. Fail, you are terminated on the same grounds as anyone else.

Paterno and McQueary are both Bitches. They don't realize what a bad move this is letting him coach the rest of the season. They are throwing more kerosene on the bonfire.

You can coach our team but you aren't allowed to speak????

this reeks of a delay. Imo, they are doing their best to delay this so Paterno can leave at the end of the season. I just don't see how they can buy enough time for him to step down in 2 months. This situation is just getting ramped up and I don't see the public being that patient.

I can't believe that. That board is filled with highly successful men and women. Probably doctors, lawyers, bank presidents, etc. They're not gonna collectively agree to keep quiet about a child molesting ex-assistant coach and chance losing everything they've worked for.

I think the only way it stayed quiet is because only a handful of ppl knew. I know those kids were young and scared, but you would think at least one of em would have told a parent, teacher, preacher, or somebody.

Knowing how trustee boards work, I tend to think the BOT was most likely not aware. So far, I think their response has been on point. Obviously, taking action now is 15 years too late, but they don't have a time machine. However, if Paterno, McQueary, Spanier, and anyone else shown to have knowledge of Sandusky's actions are in place by the end of the day Friday, they will have failed.

IMO, they have to proceed on 3 fronts:

1. Clean house of anyone and everyone who knew or should have known about Sandusky and place the school in the best position to limit the lasting long term damage to the University. Even though this doesn't seem very important right now, they do have an obligation to the alumni, faculty, current and future students to do this.

2. Investigate what happened, how it was allowed to happened, who was involved in covering it up and install safeguards against it ever happening again.

3. Determine the best way the school can reach out to the victims to accept their share of the responsibility, which would include compensating the victims as fairly as possible in money damages. Again, this seems cold and hollow, but it is the way the American civil court system operates and is the only measure of damages that we can use.

I will wait and see. I'm not sure this is from the BOT as much as it is Paterno taking a preemptive act to try to get through the season. I can't imagine that the BOT will accept Paterno coaching the rest of the season.

They have already failed. JOe is calling the shots. HE and HE alone decided he would keep coaching through end of hte season. This once again proves Joe has no boss at PSU. Believe me the BOT knows they need to clean house, but they are powerless to do it.

Let's wait until after they meet. I still think this is Joe trying to get out in front of the BOT and say he will retire at the end of the season to try to save himself. I can't see the BOT going along with it. If they do, then I agree with you.

I'm actually kinda sympathetic for the Grad Assistant. I knowing everyone says they would do X to the dude raping the child, but realistically put yourself in the dudes shoes. you are a Grad Assistant, an aspiring coach. you walk in the shower and see your boss butt fricking a child.

of course, no one wants you to be butt fricking the child but at the same time, as much as everyone bitches, the avg person, and i know this form experience, is going to look out for number 1 before antyhing else.

so what doews he do? he tells the bosses boss what he saw. he probably figures at that point, swift and decisive action will be taken, and he still has a career. I mean, you have to figure everyone is pretty much anti child butt fricking right? surely someone who has more clought can do something with this and can stand up to him, and it's not like he wasn't butt fricking the kid or anything.

so a month later, WTF do you do when you find out that no one seems to give a frick if the child was raped or not?

everyone is quick to say they would do this or do that, but keep in mind, going against a man with that type of background and persistence, is tantamount to putting a scarlet letter on your head.

I mean, as a young man, it's not like he turned a blind eye to the situation, he tried, but he did so in a way that made sure he still had a career.

Had any higher up at penn state had any balls, he would not be a scapegoat

PS- for the saftey of the coaches and the players, coach seriously needs to retire before the first away game. seriously. shite could get really ugly

It wasn't his boss. Sandusky was retired at that time. He is a large 60 year old man raping a ten year old boy. If he had called the cops Sandusky would be in jail. Nobody is gonna pull any favors for a guy that was arrested for raping a child. PS would have immediately disowned the guy. I honestly can't see any backlash for the GA coming from turning in a child molester.

Weren't some members of the board of Sandusky's foundation also BOT members. Either way the foundation board was a who's who of PA. The foundation learned of Sandusky's issues in 2008 and asked him to know longer be affiliated with the foundation. People knew about Sandusky and chose to stay quiet!
