Who is to say that Paterno didn't address the issue of him showing up a practice with a child of making sure it doesn't happen again. I don't know. Too many sides of this i'd like to hear.

You are fricking kidding me, you don't make sure it doesn't happen again by taking away his keys, firing him, not letting him use the facilities, or banishing him to south america. You take his arse to the police and let them handle the investigation and hopefully bring charges against him and put his arse in jail.

The issue isn't him on the sidelines with the kids. It is what he was doing with the kids in other places that Joe knew about. And the DA and subsequent victims have said that he didn't sufficiently address the issue.

we need to hear what Coach has to say to defend himself here. There can be easily a twist and turn that has the possibility to change things... at least a bit... not sure.

Detective Ronald Schreffler testifies that he and State College Police Department Detective Ralph Ralston, with the consent of the mother of Victim 6, eavesdrop on two conversations the mother of Victim 6 has with Sandusky. Sandusky says he has showered with other boys and Victim 6’s mother tries to make Sandusky promise never to shower with a boy again but he will not. At the end of the second conversation, after Sandusky is told he cannot see Victim 6 anymore, Schreffler testifies Sandusky says, “I understand. I was wrong. I wish I could get forgiveness. I know I won’t get it from you. I wish I were dead.” Jerry Lauro, an investigator with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, testifies he and Schreffler interviewed Sandusky, and that Sandusky admits showering naked with Victim 6, admits to hugging Victim 6 while in the shower and admits that it was wrong. The case is closed after then-Centre County District Attorney Ray Gricar decides there will be no criminal charge.

I don't know if Paterno ever involved himself with the "disciplining and handling" of situation. Maybe that's the issue. I'm just trying to piece this whole puzzle together cause some things just don't add up.

Definitely.

to defend himself
Seems impossible based on what he has already said.

I have tried to imagine some scenario where that is true and have come up blank.

You still have the issue of an eye witness who saw a boy getting fricked in the shower with his own eyes. If joe is told no charges were filed wouldn't that lead him to believe McCreary is a liar? If you're McCreary, how is not bothering you no charges were filed after seeing this?

That is what I don't get. I have the image burned in my mind just from reading the grand jury statement. What does McQueary do to close his eyes at night and not see that image? Does he have kids?

It gets better.

Gricar disappeared shortly after this and is presumed dead, likely a suicide because he disappeared in an area near where his brother killed himself.

His body never turned up, but his county-issued laptop did. The laptop and the hard drive showed up in two separate places.

We have an enormous alumni network (as you know first hand) which is why I think you will see every reaction you can possibly imagine to this story going forward. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do yet but some of these reactions are knee jerk (which you would expect given the circumstances.)

Bilj, your questions are actually the answers. This was an organized conspiracy to keep this quiet, handle it in house and avoid a scandal that would reflect poorly on PSU and Paterno and hte football program. Becuase of this they are reaping HOLY HELL. Joe's Ego is his undoing.

It adds up pretty well to me, they all knew this was gonna be a HUGE HUGE HUGE scandal and hurt their university, so they just tried to ignore it, wash their hands, turn the other cheek, and HOPE it didn't happen again and nothing came of it.

The Jerry Sandusky case has just gotten much more interesting. In 1998, Ray Gricar was the
Centre County District Attorney. According to the Sandusky Grand Jury report, in 1998 Gricar decided not to prosecute then-Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky after evidence that Sandusky had molested a young boy was brought to his attention.
Seven years later, then-District Attorney Ray Gricar went missing. His car was later found abandoned, and his laptop was found in the Susquehanna River, without a hard drive and damaged beyond repair. Police reported that before he went missing, he had researched “how to destroy a hard drive” on his home computer.
While still early in the Sandusky trial, and a leap to assume that the two incidents are connected, Gricar’s reasoning not to prosecute Sandusky will never be known. There is no proof that Gricar had heard of the 2002 shower incident, and whether Sandusky had gone missing because of the Sandusky allegations will probably never be known. However, it does add an interesting twist in the recent allegations, and more information of Gricar’s disappearance may surface in the coming months as the case moves forward.

I don't get it either. McQueary has been looking Sandusky in the eye everyday for 10 years now knowing what he knows.

Maybe Sandusky has been paying him off?

Could very well be. I'd like to know with certainty what was actually told and passed on to the President of the university and what exactly they did from that point. Did they truly alert second mile? What came of that? Any authority alerted such as PSU PD? What? Everything is adding up very poorly here but there's just a bit too much fog still.

I get it.....but if the goal is a cover up how do you allow him to continue doing what he's doing on your campus?
