So does Sandusky have some kind of dirt on Penn State? I mean how in the frick is this guy still allowed to come around even last week.

FIFY. This is out of the NCAA's hands

I would like to know Joe Pa and Sandusky did not have a good relationship over the past number of years like reported? One would think they would have been close given the God like figure of JoePa at penn st and football and Sandusky continuing to hang around the university and the program. If they didn't have a good relationship, why?

too bad this story couldn't hit at this time last year during the Cam Newton crap.
I was just thinking, "if my school had a small scale scandal they were sitting on, now's the time to release it"

I heard that JoPa and Sandusky's relationship chilled in '98 when the original allegations came out, which was reported yesterday. Which would mean JoPa may have known something back then.

and 98 is what joe pa is denying knowledge of right? we know he knew about 2002.

And there is no way that someone could be convinced that Sandusky unexpectedly resigning in 99'-00' after the first incident could mean Paterno and many of the higher ups did not know what was going on.

I have no doubt he knew, even if he didn't he certainly knew in 2002 and he let it go. But again I don't doubt he didn't know.

As an avid college football fan, this is very saddening just in general.

I think they just swept what he did under the rug because people liked the guy and didn't want to disrupt the program. Obviously terrible thinking on their part.

How much of a coincidence is it that this story did not break at the same time the LSU-Alabama game was about to be played?
It came out here last Friday

The school administration doesn't follow up on accusations and eye witness accounts of child molestation, and Joe Pa raises his hands and says he did all that he could.
The school administration cancels his press conference and he takes it upon himself to set up his own press conference and get his voice out to the public.

Sandusky has known for three years that the Grand Jury was investigating these allegations. Three years! This wasn't a "we discovered this all of a sudden and therefore we are immediately releasing these findings" and arresting the perp. I am sure the releasing of the information was planned in advance. I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility to think that the DA consulted with the NCAA about the eminent release of this information since it involved charges about a former coach AND two current high ranking university officials.
I further think that in those consultations that it is very possible that the NCAA "requested" the DA delay the release of the indictment until after this past week's game. Deals like this happen all the time only on a much smaller and less visible scale.

Yeah I don't think people realize how important Sandusky was to Penn State football. I'm not shocked at all that they would allow him full access to the university facilities especially when a charity foundation is involved like Second Mile and given the fact he was in some cases more important to our success than Joe (since he was the one who built and ran our defenses.) If there was proof of child abuse in any form he should've been arrested and it should've been handled then and there.

so, is it possible that the Second Mile could have been used to target extremely talented, but under privileged, teens and use the charity as a way to help Penn State land these kids once they graduate high school?
I'm just trying to think of a reason that they would cover this up and let it continue.

Yeah, but it really isn't a football story at this point. Certainly is much much more than that. I think the University culture was the problem moreso than a football problem.
