The Caps.. who knows? They were dead in the water two weeks ago and about to embark on an impossible stretch of @Anaheim, @LA, @SJ, LA, Boston. They have pulled into a tie for 8th by going 2-0-2 so far in that slog. If they can get a point off the Bruins, a team the Caps always play tough, they have an easier schedule down the stretch (not easy, but not arguably the four best teams, three of which on the road).

On the flip side, Backstrom was injured last night and the Caps are already down Grabbo and Laich and playing friggin' Jay Beagle on the top line. A Backstrom injury probably dooms the Caps. We're waiting on the concussion protocol results. Then again, the Caps can't complain about injuries so long as the Wings exist. Jesus. They've been ravaged.

Hell, that means the team in the best position is the Blue Jackets and I refuse to believe the Jackets are the favorites to make the playoffs. Sorry, C-bus fans. It's just reflex.

and has anyone checked on CanFan? Has he murdered a member of the Leafs front office yet?

The Rangers definitely have the easiest schedule from here on out and the Flyers definitely have the worst. CBJ, Washington, Toronto, and Detroit all have a similar road IMO. It's going to be a gut wrenching last few weeks.

CBJ is up on Dallas 1-0 so we have a good start in one of our remaining games

Huge win last night, tough tough win and great performance by McElhinney stepping in when Bob went down after not playing for something like 18 games.

We NEED to make it.

I don't get why they are replaying all 20 first period minutes against Dallas. Knowing the Jackets, they will give up a go ahead goal with 5 minutes left in the game and that point will cause them to miss the playoffs (I believe Peverly collapsed with just over 13 remaining).

The Leafs front office is a joke man, they make the NY Mets front office look like a group of astute businessmen at the top of their game.

He wanted to kill a defenseman, but couldn't find one.

Bruins may be unstoppable, playing ridiculous hockey right now. Hopefully they peaked too early, because I'm not even sure a team from the West could beat them in a series right now, much less the East.

Pens just need to get healthy and then who knows, Letang should be back any game now, Martin will be back in about a week, Malkin will be back just before the playoffs, and we just got Bennett back last game and he scored the game winner @CBJ and was the 1st star. Oh and we lost Goc for 3 weeks too, and obviously Dupuis is done for the year.

Paul Martin has missed 57 games so far and counting, Beau Bennett missed 61 games and just returned last game, Kris Letang has missed 40 games and counting, Malkin has missed 14 and counting with another 2 weeks until return, Vokoun has missed the entire year, Dupuis has missed about the entire year.

Crazy that we've still won as much as we have, when our defense has been down at least 1-2 solid defensemen and up to 4 for large chunks of the season with a team already not known for great D while relying heavily on a 19 year old rookie and an AHL goalie every few games.

CBJ:
0-7-1 against Boston/Pittsburgh
27-13-2 against rest of the East

Sooo yea it's kind of important that they get the 6th seed in the playoffs or we in trouble.

Hopefully the slide the Sharks are in will not carry over into the playoffs.

I would hardly call that a slide.. Y'all will be just fine.

I am beyond excited that the Avs clinched a playoff birth yesterday, but I am praying Duchene will be 100% come playoff time.

@pgshelly: All expected #Penguins are on the ice for game-day skate, including Letang.

Hmmm could tonight be the return?

@pgshelly: Bylsma: Fleury starting; Vitale skated but is week to week. Martin to have X-rays later today. #Penguins

Forgot all about Joe being hurt earlier, need his depth. Sounds like he's back soon too.

Stempniak has been so good.

Niskanen would be the Pens MVP if it wasn't Crosby, what a season for him.

TSN ranks Nisky #12 in league among defensemen how crazy is that? Who thought he was going to be this good when he came over with Neal?

Got a little chippy at the end of the period. The penalty box may be SRO in the 2nd.
