Unless you are Roush, Hendrick or Gibbs resouces are not equal... as it is Hendrick supplies Haas/Stewart.
Would you not consider Kahne atm the topped named Evernham driver... With Haas/Stewart it will always be Stewart for obvious reasons.

Tony can turn a mediocre driver into a great one with his instruction and his mentoring. Kayne would be equal IMO.

Newman looks like my friend Scott, that is his problem

they are not letting Kahne go. It has just been one of the hot rumors around for a while. Kahne has said he wants to stay at RPM he said that he wants to be in the best equipment he can get and right now that aint at RPM. He has said that he will honor his contract and stay with RPM through next year, but if he gets a better offer then he wont hesitate to take it. And I would like to state that that team is in no way or form Evernham Motorsports. Gillett bought the majority ownership and then cut Ray out. I think this may be another reason that Kahne may leave RPM. In an interview on Trackside, Kahne said that he likes havve someone like Richard Petty around, but it just isnt the same without Ray Evernham there and said he was sad to see the Evernham name be completely erased from the team.
Also, saying that if Kahne went to Stewart-Haas that he would be the 3rd wheel is like those people that said Kyle Busch would be the 3rd wheel at Gibbs. And I dont think Kahne needs mentoring at all. Kahne's only problems were equipment and not wrecking the car trying to get too much out of it. Kahne fixed the problem he can fix (4 DNFs last yr and all 4 were engine related). And Kahne would be a good fit at Stewart-Haas because he and Tony are really good friends. Also, Tony has been talking about retiring for 3 or 4 years now. He has said that the only reason he has not retired is because he hasnt won a Daytona 500 yet. I think the whole point of going into ownership there is to get ready to make the tranisition to retirement within the next 5 years I think. The thing with Kahne is that he has a good 10-15 years left in him and would be a good fit if Tony were looking for someone to go up and contend for championships after his retirement

beginning of the season and Newman is 17th in points. lot of racing left. but if everyone thought being stellar was being 1st after a few races, then fricking Scott Speed would have the Sprint Cup Title.

Yo VooDoo, I knew abt Kahne's engine problems. It was actually all 4 RPM cars. They tried a new cooling system that would have allowed them to run more tape and not run hot. It kinda backfired. They have all changed engines.
He would not be a bad pick as he seems to find his way to 6-12 at plate tracks late in the race if he misses the big one. Would be what I call a safe pick but he just never gets any luck at the end so I dont see him winning. Kurt and Vickers have better cars and have a chance to win here. When leading toward Kyle remember he did win here last yr and had daytona won earlier until he got wrecked because of Jr.

Archie I kind of took your approach. I got some guys that are questionable but only because of bad luck lately. I figured after coming off 2 straight wins in the league and moving into the top 1000 overall that I could afford some experimentation and save some drivers for later races when they should be better.

hey man, thanks for the insight...much appreciated

I wonder if Fox is going to show more commercials than actual racing this week. It seemed like half the race at Phoenix was commercials.

Speaking of which, the 9 starts is for the entire season right? (as opposed to 9 starts per the 3 sessions)
Like they just said on FOX, anyone can win at Talladega.

Green flag waves at 1:19. And yes the 9 picks per driver are for the entire season
