Rangers playing like garbage. Think McDonough is hurt. I think I invented some new curse words last night

Nah, I mean the Fleury game that happens once or twice a series where he can't stop a beachball.

In order for that to happen this series though NY would have to get some scoring chances. Have been impressed with Pittsburgh's disciplined play. Would have expected Neal to have done something dirty by now.

The way that the Rangers are playing right now, I can truly sympathize with Maple Leafs fans

Canadiens need this game 3 bad. Boston out-physicaled us in game 2. Price needs to bring his A game

That will not happen vs Boston. He is mentally weak and the sting of losing 4 in a row to choke a series away few years ago will be in his face.

Boston did not out phisical the Habs, they outgooned them. Boston reorted to what they do best clutch and grab, basically be the Devils of the 2010's. They never get called for the stuff they do, it is sickening.

Montreal may have a shot tonight if they skate fast and get Gallagher and Gionta going early. Pacioretty just needs to play and not worry about finding back of net. Pernell on the PP will be a decoy and should allow Markhov to blast away. Vanek has to set up shop and make Chara work on D.

Chara's mission in game 2 was to bully PK and get him hot under the collar and it worked. PK has been our leading scorer in the playoffs and you can't score goals when you're in the box.

It's a pretty incredible streak he's on right now. I was a little worried about Regehr going down after Willie Mitchell's injury, but Jeff Schultz filled in perfectly. The D played lights out last night, and were the perfect complement to Quick. I've never seen Alec Martinez play at the level he is right now. The Ducks' star players were completely marginalized. This is some epic hockey from the Kings.

The interesting part though is the Bruins really surf the fine line between committing penalties and not with their physical style of play.

Three things can happen that I have seen in the past:
1) Boston continues to bully Montreal around the ice, Montreal folds and Boston goes on to win the series.

2) Montreal responds in kind, starts sticking up for themselves, and the series gets really nasty. Someone ends up on a stretcher at some point, then everything starts getting called. Either Montreal OR Boston can win in this scenario. In order for this to happen, Montreal needs to dress Parros and Prust needs to stop his experiment to become the next Jean Beleveau and return to his old ways and punch someone in the mouth.

3) Boston overdoes the physicality, starts committing penalties everywhere, and starts giving up power play goals right left and center. It's hard for this scenario to happen because the officials like to call it even; regardless of who is committing more fouls. In this scenario Price has to show up, and PK, Prust, and Pacioretty need to play disciplined hockey. Either team can win in this scenario.

So what do you do then if you are Therrien? If you prepare for #2, you could easily lose, and suffer the consequences of extremely negative PR. If you prepare for #3, there is a greater than 50% chance that scenario 1 can happen. Nobody prepares for scenario 1 because they don't think it can happen.

There is a dark side of me that just wants him to put Parros in the lineup, make him the center for the opening faceoff, and have him pop someone in the face. I hate bullies, but then in that scenario technically Montreal becomes the bully.

It wasnt Chara they sent after Pernell it was Thornton and Lucic. Chara's mission was to be a thug and hammer people and grab them making the F sit.

Just a quick rant: So, I'm studying for finals and have been at Middleton library pretty much mid-morning to close since Saturday (here currently , and consequently have not been able to watch many games; consequently, I have been checking nhl.com regularly, maybe two-three times a day during breaks to stay on top of what's going on, watch highlights, etc. and every single time I want to explode, because at the top of the page where the series are shown (next game, time, series' record, etc.) they have neglected to include the Pitt-NYR series for the entirety of the second round...

Idk why it bothers me SO much, but it does, and I am just wondering how on earth they can keep frequently updating the content of the fron page and still have yet to notice it. It just makes me wanna

:rantover:

anyway, Geaux Pens!

1) Fleury from my understanding looked great last night from what I've heard (only got to watch tidbits of game 3 on first row last night)

2) Crosby finally found twine, which is great news, we need him to get into a groove

3) Jussi still has a good streak going for him, and line two is playing great

4) Solid defensive play from both of first-two pairs, Letang is looking more like his usual self, and we, from what I can tell, have dominated the physical aspect of the last two games

Hopefully, we can take the momentum in stride and finish the series in five, cause from the looks of it, as I noted earlier in this thread, Boston is going to handle the Habs soundly, and will be rested upon our arrival in New England next round

but, again, it IS the playoffs, and anything can happen...

like the commentary so far here, y'all keep it up and I'll keep contributing when I have a chance

Yes......yes it can.....like San Jose completely choking after going up 3-0.

A little too early to be putting Boston and Pittsburgh in the conference title game.

Nice rebound goal Pernell is playing like a man this series.

I think it was Plekanek from Vaneck and Pernell.

The Bs don't seem to buzz like that on the road as much. Once they get that momentum at home, it's a freaking avalanche of pressure.
