He might get a raise out of it though.

While I realize that Foster wasn't a highly sought out coach, Kenny is making almost double what UCLA was paying Foster.

I do not understand the Gruden hype. I think he would be mediocre in college. Why do people get so enamored with him?

I understand Gruden in the era of NIL than I did pre-NIL. He never seemed like he would want to do the recruiting aspect of college and deal with the nonsense of 18-22 year olds.

Maybe with more structure involved in NIL hed be a better fit with his NFL background.

You think there's more structure now than pre-NIL?

For a mediocre NFL coach that has never coached in college, has never shown an interest in coaching in college, and is now 62 years old, he always gets an odd amount of rumors claiming he's about to take a college job.

Gruden doesn't deserve a P4 job at this point

And wherever he goes, he's going to be met with crybaby cancel culture leftist freaks

I like the idea of Jimbo to VT. That's exactly who that program needs

terrible hire for Va Tech

Jimbo has a never ending chip on his shoulder, and that would only be worse with him sitting on a gazillion dollar nest egg.

I think UCLA is a terrible job in the B1G with Oregon willing to spend as much money as they are.

Seems like a career ending move to go to UCLA.

The buyout drops in January but still might be a little too rich for UCLA so we will see. But in a vacuum that would probably be the hire

UCLA is a terrible job. I wouldn’t be surprised if they scrap the football program within the next 10 years.

Will they pay more than Michigan State?

quote:

If Smith had waited just a few weeks before jumping from Oregon State to Michigan State two years ago, he probably already would have been the UCLA head coach. He’s a Pasadena, Calif., native who has won at every level up and down the West Coast and naturally knows the Big Ten well. It makes too much sense for both the Spartans and the Bruins for Smith to return home even if it’s a lateral move at best as a coach.

quote:

“Smith would be a major swing — and might be interested in moving back to the West Coast. If UCLA tries for him, the program had better have the resources lined up,” Jeyarajah said.

Big emphasis on the latter for UCLA, as the resources has come into light amid Foster’s firing.

A person identified as an industry source per Brett McMurphy of On3/Rivals ripped UCLA’s current state.

”Next coach? A better story is who would take that job? Chip (Kelly) ran for a reason. Terrible administration, no resources, they’re getting crushed, no NIL & currently no chance to compete in Big Ten football,”

Why do people scream Lane Kiffin for every college job when he has already blown two big time jobs and has never really won anything?

Justin Wilcox would be a great hire for Va Tech

What am I missing here? He's a west coast guy with a losing record overall, and hasn't finished above .500 since 2019. The only reason he has kept his job all these years is because Cal doesn't give a shite.

Unless that's the argument; that VT cares more about football, so Wilcox can win there. I personally don't see it though.
