This argument might work if the player who takes the nba "fashion" to the highest level wasn't the most aggressive and competitive player in the entire league.

Westbrook would out compete anyone from back in the day, except maybe Jordan. Dude goes hard on the court night in and night out unlike anyone else.

Man get over yourself you bigot. What many white do not like is to feel their money goes to support those who idolize and support a criminal subculture. That is what the dew rags and the pants down past their waistline signifies to most Caucasians.

If you don't think the appearance of the players has a correlation to the popularity of the league, you are wrong. I and those like me don't like thinking we are supporting criminals, period.

ETA: I did like AI though (Rodmann too), because I always respected him due to his on court hustle and performance. And just for clarity, I prefer the "old" NBA rules. I like to see a little bumping and grinding down low. there is no such thing as defense anymore.

Stripping NBA players of their true indiviality in dress has caused them to express it with horrid tattoos that cannot be easily removed like silly chains/ doo rags.

I just got to this one... That is funny.

The dress code is for "at work", no? They can dress how they want on their own time, no?

Odd how one sentence from many is picked up.

It was a stupid fricking sentence. The fact that it was a single sentence does not diminish its stupidity.

Then show me the correlation in popularity of the League with numbers.

NBA Television ratings regular season & Finals have been been on average the same or even better in the the early 2000's.

Since 99(Post Jordan) the NBA Finals has consistently averaged around 10-12 share .

Especially excluding Tim Dunacn Spurs which recorded the 2 lowest rated Finals in NBA history & 3 worst since 2000.

I don't care how many man purses or skinny jeans today's players wear ( Outside of Lebron) they certainly aren't more popular than Kobe or AI .

And no more popular / likebale than others of the late 90's 'Thug' generation:
Kobe
AI
Duncan
Vince Carter- unmitigated phenom
TMac
KG
Pierce
Allen
Nash
Nowitwzki

The ratings / apparel sales should be there if today's players are 'more likeable' or popular .

2015 had the most watched finals series since the Jordan Era

Twice as many people watched the 2015 finals than the 2007 Cavs/Spurs finals series.

Beckham used to Boogies like an all you can eat buffet. He made more trips than a fat kid to the dessert bar at Ryan's.

Just listened to the Simmons podcast on this. I think he and Wesley Morris were completely correct that it feels very odd how literally no one wants to talk about this incident and what it means.

I don't know if it because OBJ does want to address it or because the league put pressure on them, but should we be talking about this more? If the Carolina Panthers intentionally taunted OBJ because he is gay (or is perceived to be gay) on a systematic team-wide basis then that is a real story.

Based on your first comment on this thread, it's clear that this board is lacking some common sense.

Granted, three of your four points are valid. However, the fourth is reactionary bullshite, which is par for the course for you.
