OU is the only 1 loss Big 12 team with a shot of getting in over a 1 loss ND. They are the only team that could compile enough quality wins to have a better resume. People can point to the Texas game all they want but the committee proved last year that Quality Wins >>>> Bad losses in the eye of the committee. tOSU was the prime example of this.

Because it's Notre Dame. Both them and Alabama get a free pass because of program name alone.

I'm not a conspiracy guy, but it's pretty obvious the media and committee take this approach when factoring those two teams' rankings.

i think OSU was given some leeway because, as I recall, that was the first game with their 2nd string qb that they last to VA Tech. I'll be honest, I have not followed Oklahoma closely enough to know if they had a similar situation.

the Big Ten, is arguably the most powerful conference, as well. Certainly if not the most powerful, the second most powerful. It'd be an interesting thing to see who has more clout the vastly weakened Big 12 or Notre Dame.

The big 10 is pretty much guaranteed. Unless they really start beating each other like crazy.

Undefeated big 12 aka OK State will jump ND if they win out... But the more I think about it this isn't a slam dunk, though. Money plays into this and they can justify putting 1 loss ND over undefeated Ok state

One loss ND will be in over one loss OU. OU needs Stanford to beat ND.

I think an undefeated Okie State would jump ND. A 1-loss Big 12 team would not go in over 1 loss ND. OU doesn't have a chance vs. ND; their only common opponent is Texas, which ND destroyed while OU got handed a pretty bad loss.

All it would take is for Michigan win out and the B1G would be shut out.

so you are assuming michigan knocks off OSU and then Iowa loses to whoever comes out of that side in the big ten championship?

Agreed. I had notre dame in my final four. But I think Stanford beats them. But if ou wins out, they should be in.

is Stanford still playing for a New Year Day bowl? incentive could make a huge difference.

Right now Alabama's best win is against LSU who can't beat their way out of a wet paper bag.

Notre Dame is as impressive as any team in the country right now.

I'm still holding on that the Big 12 will have a 3 way tie and all the teams will have 2 losses. TCU will beat OU this weekend and Baylor is going to beat the Pokes.

are four better wins than OU

deluded

If OU beats Baylor, TCU, Tenn and Okie State no way ND had a better resume.

and if WVU wins out and finishes 8-4 thats another decent win.

Right now, Stanford can lose to ND and potentially still go to the Rose Bowl, but I think they will be very motivated to beat the Irish.

right, but not quite the same as getting into the playoff.

The transitive property does not apply to college football

I can't believe people still try to use the common opponent argument

It's about the whole body of work

Do you think Memphis is better than Alabama?

When a resume is close that is definitely a factor. Don't be a meat head.

ND might want to turn down the invite if they are the 4 and Bama is the 1. It would be another murder by saban against Kelly

Tennessee is not a good win. They have lost against every decent team they have played.

The same could be said about Pitt, except Pitt is in a much worse conference.
