It really doesn't matter if the helmets collide. If the receiver is defenseless he could hit him in the head with his pinky finger and its targeting by the rule

Yep, and that's my issue. I thought it was a great football play. Problem is I've seen so many guys get ejected for far less this weekend. Either call it consistent or don't call it at all. By today's standards the Texas D back should have been tossed.

That hit was exactly why they came up with the targeting rule in the first place. The receiver was as defenseless as it gets and the tackler led with his helmet/shoulders and hit him high. If you are allowed to review that I don't see how you ignore it.
