Funny stuff. So college football is dead because now all teams can hire illiterates to play like the SEC has been doing for decades?
College football is dead to some because the losses are starting to happen. I totally understand it though. When a lot of fans are use to winning 10 games a year because your school cheats and suddenly you win less because other teams can now cheat I can see the angst.
But the sport is not dying. For every Bama fan who stops watching because “it’s not the same” you’ll have plenty of fanbases growing and replacing them. We see it already. My little ole team in Atlanta is getting better and our season tickets have shot thru the roof and interest is growing. Same with SMU and many schools. I guarantee Vandy’s fanbase is growing. Sure, it’s a long term venture but the more high end players these type of schools can peel away will create even more parity which will raise the sport overall even if some fanbases are upset because their teams take a step back. The real tipping point will be when schools like Vandy and SMU really decide to spend their money and buy high end coaches. You think 5 stars in 2030 would rather live in Auburn, Alabama or Oxford, MS instead of Dallas, Nashville, or Los Angeles? The only draw to those places has been coaching and under the table money. That advantage is now gone.

Apparently excuses also add up.
Ole Miss opened last year with 4 absolute cup cakes then lost to Kentucky whose only other 3 wins were against non P4 teams.
Plenty of teams have gone through SEC schedules undefeated or with 1 loss and even played big OOC games. Go look at LSUs 2019 and 2011 schedules.
Ole Miss and Bama lost 3 because they weren’t that good last year

The sec always has/will have a harder time . Polls are irrelevant, and should never be out until Oct 1. There is always going to be some "controversy" on who gets in, and who doesn't. All I'm saying from my OP the B10 has an easier path. It's not hatred towards the conference whatsoever. Just a fact. Adding those Pac 10 teams may make it difficult down the road due to traveling. TBD.

Totally. It was the SEC paying players and nobody else

Everyone always says this but then a team from the SEC has won the NC how many times? Also we act like the JT conferences are a singular unit and not individual teams. With 12 teams only playing 8 conference games there was variance in the SEC schedules but now with 16 teams are only playing half the league. Look at Texas schedule last year

Bama, LSU, or Ole Miss would've beaten them by 3 tds
You’re talking about Bama that lost to Vandy and got blown out by Oklahoma? LSU who lost to USC? Ole Miss that lost to Kentucky? You’re sure that those teams would have beat Indiana by 3 TDs?

Indiana was beaten like a drum against Ohio St and lost by double digits to ND. Indy doesn't line up against NFL players in practice. Go back and look at that puny schedule in 2024. Putting in middle of the road teams in the playoffs doesn't draw viewership. Not a fan, but South Carolina was playing at the end of last season as good as anyone. You mean to tell me SMU/Indiana were a better team? Boise St? Please. Espn is obsessed with destiny's darlings instead of teams that are unequivocally better. Like I said, adding more teams is simply a money grab and will be a disaster. Who is honestly going to watch say, UCF at Penn St?
Cincinnati at Georgia? Get real. CFB os all about brands against brands. Not these Jr high teams getting steamrolled against the big boys.

Well soon, the JV teams and varsity teams will switch places. The bagman advantage is gone. It may take a 20 year period but eventually the teams that 15 to 18 year old high school teams perceive as the top tier will change. For old guys like us we’ll always think of Bama football as dominant just like the old guys 70-80 years ago revered Yale, Harvard, and Army football. Heck my team was a dominant southern power a mere 60 years ago. And then the system changed and we fell off the map when schools starting bringing in the non-student athletes. Many teams tried to stick to the student-athlete model a d they get left behind by the teams who brought in morons who could run and jump.
Now that big corporate money is in the mix it’s gonna be fun watching schools who followed the previous rules and were crushed now decide to do the criushing.

South Carolina LOST to Illinois in their bowl game
Stop with this. They weren’t good enough to beat the 5th or 6th best B1G team factually

ALL bowls are meaningless unless its the playoffs. You think SC was eager to play once they were stiffed? Just ask FSU about that. Schools show up just to get a check. Thats why attendance has been putrid since the playoffs started.

So trap games and injuries only exist in the SEC?
I’m a UM fan fan, but how do you explain a mediocre UM team beating @OSU and then Alabama in the bowl game?
Also, it’s time for the SEC (and every conference) to play 9 conference games instead of 8. Minimum of one OOC game against a power 4 opponent.
Do SEC fans support the 8 game conference schedule or 9 game conference schedule?
With the giant conferences, the 9 game conference schedules make more sense so that you get to play every team in a your conference at least once every other or third year.
That was ridiculous with the divisions and a protected rival in the other division where you would only see a team like every 6 years unless you played in the conference championship.
Ideally if you stayed 4 years at a school, you’d get to play at every stadium in the conference at least once. Not realistic now.
I wouldnt be surprised to see 10 game conference schedules in the near future.

I don’t support a 9 game conference schedule myself. Make it an even number so you get 4/4 or 5/5 home games. I think we should move to 10 so you play more conference games then 2 OOC then playoffs

You said Ohio State's bowl loss to Mizzou didn't matter though.

Glad to know Vandy’s win over my Yellow Jackets since teams were just there to grab a check.
Some, not all, of you SEC guys are just funny these days. For decades you beat your chest about bowl matchups and kept records. Now that other teams are catching up due to the portal and NIL suddenly bowl games don’t matter? No keep in mind, I have never believed bowl games were legit or should count but you guys kept throwing it in our faces because your hired guns would beat schools with actual students. I’m down here in South Georgia which is recruited by everyone due to its proximity to FSU, Auburn, Bama, Florida, UGA, and GT all within 3 1/2 hour drives. And the former players who are now back home love to talk about the shenanigans and offers they got back in the 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s when all these things were illegal. So don’t tell me the SEC’s title are in the level. No one buys it. That’s why Saban quit and Kirby doesn’t know which way to turn.

The few times the sec plays north of the mason dixon line after 10/1, they lose. Fact.
