Harsher? What should have been the suspensions in your opinion?

Draft picks and a suspension of every player that took place and/or received any incentives from the bounty program. Also, throwing Roman Harper off a cliff.

yes he keeps his job.

He should still be allowed with the team on draft day. That is ridiculous.

I think the suspensions + penalties were fair.

Things I'm surprised about:
- I'm surprised Williams wasn't banned from football as he seemed to be the mastermind behind this -----im sure he has coached his last game
--- I'm surprised no players (Vilma + Harper) were suspended; however, those could still be coming---- suspensions for players are on the way
- I'm surprised that Payton got a whole year. Thought he'd get around 10 games. He's the head man in charge, so I understand it.----- i was surprised at first until i read the whole pdf, they were given multiple chances to fix this and they just overlooked it, after reading the saints coaches are just dumb and deserve it.
- I'm really surprised more/higher draft picks weren't taken. -------They didn't have any this year, so taking a 2nd rd pick this yr now the saints dont have a pick til 3rd round

All in All, I think it was a pretty spot on punishment. ----yep i agree

So what suspensions do the refs get for not calling these oh so horrible hits penalties on the field? What suspension does Goodell get for not suspending the players when they made all these hits? If they did their jobs when the hits were happening there would be no bounty gate

I'm having trouble figuring out how people can think that this isn't that big of a deal, but I guess they're blinded by fandom.

Or blinded by a sport and media that celebrate violence in the game.

Fine, let this come down. No longer should we have "Hits of The Day," or pundits refer to defensive plays as "nasty," "terrifying," or anything other excessively violent and "fear-inducing" word. They shouldn't give props for "getting to the quarterback." No longer should they celebrate LT, Butkus, etc. Should probably remove them from the HoF too.

If the goal is to change the identity of football, change it. But don't be hypocritical about it.

All fans are desensitized from the violence of football since it's a part of the game. Saints fans are ticked because it's their team. Everyone else is feigning "shock" and "awe" because it's an opponent. Nothing else. They probably don't really care either, it's just fun to laugh.

My initial thoughts were that the punishment may have been too severe, but reading through the PDF, it's pretty damning. Not shocking why they came down like they did.

But this is my point. It's not the hits that they're being punished for. It's the fact that they were paying bonuses to players who injured someone.

Even if the hit was completely legal, should a player get a bonus for knocking someone out of a game? That's what the issue is here. Not were the hits legal/illegal, but should an organization reward injuries.

The Saints aren't being punished for being dirty on the field. They're being punished for breaking rules and lying about it.

When you bald-face lie to The Man, The Man comes down like a ton of bricks.

Just ask Mike Vick.

Exactly my thoughts. The Saints fans have nobody to blame except for Payton, Williams, etc. Don't break the rules and you don't get punished.

Like the packers? Oh who btw aren't being punished for there bounties? Or Maybe the Patriots? Redskins?
what a dumbass comment.

I thought it was a little harsh but when the NFL tells you to stop and you ignore them, you're going to get popped.

The "everybody does it" excuse, though true, didn't work for me even when I was 10 years old.

And like I told my Saints buddy, your neighbor may be smoking pot in his living room, but that doesn't mean you should feel free to light up your crack pipe on the street corner.

I don't see how Saints fans are bitching about Spygate when this is much much worse and more dangerous.

Sorry...but fans, the economy and Vegas care about the bottom-line = winning games. The integrity of the playing field and therefore outcome of sporting events is more important than players getting injured.

To say if I agree or disagree, is filming opposing teams to steal their signals against the rules?

If so, then I disagree b/c hard hits on players to injure them isn't against the rules.

If the question I asked is not against the rules, then I agree, we have no room to be pissed.
