They are after Meggs announcement, which would tend to make people believe he won't be charged

I thought I read that Jansen said he will have a press conference after the announcement with Jameis. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it would be hard for Jameis to be at a press conference if he was arrested

Yep. Janssen would get out in front of it if Winston was being charged. Jmo.

Don't feel like reading through this massive thread.

Espn announced Ron Burgundy won't host Thursday's Sportscenter due to "breaking news" regarding Jameis Winston.

Thats because it wouldn't be smart having a comedian cover such a sensitive subject. Guilty or innocent it's the right call by them

I'd assume not, but is there some other non felonious charge they could charge Winston on?

Some type of "compromise "- like charge.

I haven't looked at the Florida code on this, but that seems highly unlikely based on the allegations.

Winston's not going to get charged. Maybe they can reclaim some favor in the court of public opinion before the Heisman ceremony with the press conference.

keep in mind that Willie Meggs is the same State Attorney who held a press conference in 1999 to go over the Peter Warrick case(grand theft), and when the press Conference was over, Warrick was then charged and arrested.

Got this from OSU board. Is this true?

Public opinion wont matter for his heisman chances. If the charges are dropped he will win. Guaranteed.

He's a shoe-in for the Heisman. Off-the-field issues didn't stop OJ from winning it.

Yeah he's got it locked up if he's not charged. So why hold a press conference? I'm sure he's known since this morning what's coming. Why the wait?
