those charges were quite petty compared to a rape allegation.
I doubt you'd ever serve time for being given some goods from a retail store from the clerk who worked there.

WTF? That doesn't sound like legal representation for someone pressing charges at all.

Yep. It sounds like TPD could have tied up some loose ends that would have made look like they actually investigated and had no basis to bring charges. Instead, they half arsed it initially so the state attorney had to come in and tie up the loose ends.

We'll find out everything tomorrow from Meggs. Be interested in how detailed it will be.

If they were going to charge him, would they do it immediately and arrest him instead of a day later.

My guess is that he would have already turned himself in.

"When you all look at this, when the dust all settles," Meggs told the Associated Press on Wednesday night. "You'll say, 'Man, there were some things that could have been done back in December of '12 that could have cleared this up a whole lot easier than November of 2013,' " he said.

He will have to walk a fine line talking about evidentiary standards and shite like that. There is no way he disparages the girl.

I don't know what he's going to say or what evidence he's got but he's talking about a possible rape charge with DNA evidence. Don't know how you can clear that up "easily".

again.

Could be possible he meant that in terms of charging him.

Idk.

Thats what makes tomorrow so interesting. What did he find or what did he learn that couldnt have resolved this issue sooner.

Nope there's a lot of ripple effect with these allegations...you knew what I meant, at least I hope you did. There are a lot of people this will affect in some manner.

Not saying God isn't a top priority with Meggs or many others, but let's give God some credit here, I believe he'd excuse a missed choir practice to announce something as important as this. Aside from that, what in the world is your problem with Bama fans? I will restate that the interest in this JW stuff with a lot of the Bama fans is the fact that many follow football closely and this is a big football story PLUS JW is straight out of a Bama hot spot region in very close proximity to the UA campus. If JW was from California you'd see much less interest from Bama based posters.

Another interesting article

quote:

Both Hobbs and another local defense attorney believe the calling of a press conference would be out of character for Meggs if he was planning on charging Winston. Meggs has been in office since 1985.

"My experience with Meggs' office has been that unlike some jurisdictions, he doesn't like the dramatic press conference where it is announced that 'law enforcement is arresting the suspect right now,' " Hobbs told Yahoo Sports. "In almost 15 years of practice I have never seen him do that in a high-profile case."

Per ESPN's Shelly Smith.

If Jameis is charged his attorney will be tipped off so that Jameis can turn himself in at 1 or 2 in the morning.

So if something leaks..(TMZ?)..we'll find out before Meggs presser.

If not...and he's in class, meetings, etc then obviously he's not getting charged.

Someone else noted this earlier in the thread, that they might be giving him a chance to turn himself in. Props to whomever caught that. I'm not saying this is the case, I just find it interesting that someone here made that same comment/observation hours ago.
