I think we should all take a moment to appreciate what a run its been. the Red Wings have been, for a lot of people, a model organization for their entire lives. The Wings run probably should've ended a year or two ago, but they kept it going by goosing a few more good years out of their stars.

They are going to have to rebuild, and they are an old team so it might take awhile, but the Wings run has been truly outstanding. Particularly if you remember how bad they were before the run started, and then how Yzerman was so overshadowed by Gretzky and Lemieux, but he patiently waited for his time.

Thanks for making hockey fun for over a quarter century, Red Wings. Salut.

I think we should all take a moment and recognize Auston Matthews. Only three players have scored 35 goals in their rookie season in the last 20 years. Ovie, Sid, and now AM34

And Laine will get there before the end of the season

We actually aren't that old. We have a lot of young guys playing, but not having any top draft picks the last 10 years has kind of left us without any stars.

Yeah, I remember seeing some crazy stats about how success has destroyed their draft position the last 20 years.

It's kind of fitting the streak is ending with the last season of the Joe, in some ways. Would have been nice for fans to get a couple of playoff games there, but it's one of those buildings that's not old enough to be historic and not new enough to be worth keeping.

The only 2 players that are at least 35 are Zetterberg and Kronwall. Kronwall has barely been playing because of injuries. We would be better if we could clear his cap space.

Green is only 31, Neilson is 32, Ericsson is 33. Miller is 33 but he's easily replaceable. Howard is 33 but that's not bad for a goalie.

Average age is 28.

That's old. Over half the league is under 27. Of the top 20 scorers, 9 are 25 or under. Only 2 are over 30. Of the top 40 scorers, 18 are 25 or under. Most of the teams with older rosters than Red Wings are Cup contenders (or Vancouver).

I don't think the Wings go to utter crap, but it is time to rebuild. And the next Cup is a while way off.

No one is debating that.

As a long-time Oilers fan, thank god the 11 year draught is over. For years they were the worst run franchise is pro sports and yet sold out every game.

Last time the Oilers made playoffs, I was graduating high school. Now I have a couple degrees, a wife and a house. Can actually watch the playoffs in HD (which hadn't come out yet)

I watched the YouTube videos of the 2006 finals again last night, straight chills. Rogers is going to be electric come April. Going all in to try to get tickets and catch a game.

The wings always did it right by playing their young talent on the top lines rather than making them earn their stripes with the grinders and goons on the third and fourth lines.

Been done before, and no one threw a parade for that team, so why should we for Detroit?

I love hearing the Canadian national anthem before a Canucks, Canadians, Senators, Maple Leafs, Jets, Oilers, or Flames playoff game. So awesome.
