you guys definitely ARE doing it right from ownership to management to scouting/drafting to coaching. You are a year ahead of schedule.

Be a hell of a confidence boost to win a round or two for our rookies

Where has this Berglund been all these years? Tarasenko brought a kid with cancer to the game. Nice gesture.

The Blackhawks are absolutely bludgeoning the Penguins. 4-0 at the first intermission.

Penguins have been playing secretly bad over the past two months. They haven't beaten a playoff team since March 10, when they beat the Oilers in OT. They haven't beaten a playoff team in regulation since February 4, when they beat the Blues.

Of course, being the Penguins, they will get magically hot and the regular season won't matter at all and they'll win another Cup. Because the rules of life just don't apply to them, those lucky bastards. But it does mean it is now officially a two-team race for the Metro, with the loser getting the Penguins in the first round.

The winner, if they are lucky (read: the Blue Jackets) will play the Maple Leafs. If unlucky (read: the Caps), they will play the Lightning with a now healthy Steven Stamkos, and lose to the preseason Cup favorites in 7 games in the first round.

Everything sucks.

Penguins just need to get healthy, playing the AHL squad has been fine but it's time.

#1 injured team in quality man games lost in the League.

This is why the regular season means nothing to the Penguins and where the Metro making seeding pointless actually helps.

Expected back before the playoffs are

Kris Letang (practicing)
Evgeni Malkin (practicing)
Olli Maatta (practicing)
Trevor Daley (still out)
Jake Guentzel (game time decision)
Connor Sheary (game time decision)
Ron Hainsey (practicing)

Doesn't take a miracle, just takes health from your high end talent.

I still fully believe the Penguins are the best team in the NHL when those guys return. There isn't another team in the NHL that would be able to deal with the amount of injuries to key players as the Pens have had and still be in the position they are in. It has been very impressive and speaks to the amount of young talent in the org.

yea this race for the final WC in the East will be a lot of fun.

Tampa Bay and the Bruins have a game this weekend and Stamkos is possibly coming back

if Toronto grabs 3rd in atlantic and TB gets the final WC.. I think Boston may melt down and it will be glorious.

then the Caps would have to deal with a re-invigorated lightning team who were sellers at the deadline, didn't have their captain for most of the season, and STILL managed to sneak the playoffs. yea, yikes.

Hedman and Kucherov have been carrying this team hard and its been fun to watch

Blues stay hot. 11-1-1 in last 13 games. Could end up passing Wild for 2nd if both teams dont change their recent tracks.

Wild play 3 of their last 4 vs Colorado and Arizona so not likely.

The Blues have been a mystery all year. I don't know why they couldn't play like this before Shattenkirk was traded.

Calgary has nothing but games left vs Pacific (san jose, Anaheim, lak).

then when considering st. louis' remaining schedule...

...seems likely that Calgary falls to the 2nd WC and has to deal with Chicago

Chicago-Calgary
Anaheim-Nashville
San Jose-Edmonton
Minnesota-St Louis

pretty exciting draw.

Anaheim Edmonton and SJ are all jumbled up together. the difference between hosting a 7 seed, vs traveling to Chicago in the first round, is 5 points! and they all play each other in the last week.

I think it would be hilarious if the Flames or Oilers fell to the last Wild Card so NBC couldn't shove their beloved Blackhawks down out throat. I still like the old playoff format much better. Just a few weeks ago I never would imagine the race for the Pacific Division would get so interesting.

yea me neither. San Jose led the entire time and then Burns goes on a point drought and they lose 6 or 7 in a row. altho the losing streak isn't exactly his fault.. you cant rely on 30 goals from a Blue Liner.

anaheims backup GK, I forget his name, Berthier? Has been lights out.

we fricking won 10 games in a row and still couldn't overtake Edmonton. Something about this team yall.. Edmonton is good. pretty worried about their rise to prominence.

and its not just McDavid. Nugent-Hopkins, Lucic, Maroon, Talbot.. ugh. this team is big and mean, and have the fastest skater in the league anchoring their first line in the center of the ice.

Flames are only 5 points from winning the division. I'm really liking the NHL app. I always assumed it was like MLB app. I had no idea there were free broadcasts of games. I wish I had it sooner.
