The fact that not a single Saints offense during the Peyton / Brees regime isn't mention makes this entire article invalid.

1998 Vikings should be higher. That offense was amazing.

i really dont want to seem like one of "those" saints fans, but not having the 2011 or 2009 teams on there is absurd

all of those offenses led the league in scoring but failed to win the Super Bowl.

actually, since the year 2000 look at how the top scoring offenses have fared in the Super Bowl:

2001 Rams LOST
2005 Seahawks LOST
2007 Patriots LOST

2009 Saints WON

2013 Denver LOST
2015 Carolina LOST
2016 Falcons LOST

just thought I'd share that. Have a blessed weekend MSB.

2011 Saints had more passing(1st in the NFL) and more rushing yards(6th in the NFL) than the Packers(3rd & 27th respectively).

How good was Indy's defense in 2009?

A lot of those Super Bowl losers played the #1 defense in the NFL.

ETA: I think New Orleans should've had one on the list, and at very least one on the other mentions list.

There have been 18 NFL offenses to score 500+ regular season points. The oldest team on the list is the '61 Oilers.
Of those 18 teams only the '94 49ers, '98 Broncos, '99 Rams, AND '09 Saints have won the SB.

The 2011 packers was better un ppg but the 2011 saints set the record for most ypg and barely behind green bay for most ppg.

They had 5 turnovers in the playoffs and still dropped 30+ on a vaunted sf defense... Would be champs if gw wasn't an idiot.

I'll point out that the 2013 Denver Broncos looked terrible in the Super Bowl because their offense became one demensional against one of the best defenses of all-time, because Denver's defense couldn't stop a nose bleed while they were missing 5 starters.

Von Miller
Rahim Moore

True. I also find it interesting that it contradicts the narrative that its all about offense in todays NFL also.

I see the 1990 Bills were the furthest they were willing to go back as far as candidates for this list.

Interesting.

they left off the Bill Walsh offenses from the 49ers during the 80's. Would not have guessed that before I opened the thread.

I would say the Saints 2011 offense should swap with Green Bay's 2011 offense I guess. Still to this day some Saints fans say the 2011 team was the best we've had. I disagree and side with the 2009 team fwiw (the defense made too many big plays that year). The 2011 defense sprung a lot more leaks in pass coverage and didn't come close to getting as many takeaways as the '09 unit.

Hats off to the 99 Rams and 16 Falcons for being top 5 in total offense, yards per play, passing offense, rushing offense, and scoring offense. The 99 Rams were #1 in 4/5 (and #5 in rushing offense).

The 2011 Saints should definitely be up there too.

#1 in total offense
#1 in yards per play
#1 in passing offense
#6 in rushing offense
#2 in scoring offense

Trying not to sound like a homer, but the 2011 Saints offense was a machine. Graham and Sproles were nightmare matchups for every team, and Brees had video game numbers
