i don't get this. the assumption is that they'll either sign an impact safety or draft another one down the road with a draft pick they acquire?

The assumption here for the Jets is that you trade an impact safety for a potential impact tackle and or impact WR. Safety is way down the list in terms of position value. They have a good one that could complete a contender. The picks are a lot more valuable to the Jets at this point because they can go towards valuable positions.

The dolphins trading Tunsil was retarded. Trading guys like Fitzpatrick and Adams is not necessarily a dumb move.

The Jets aren’t known for their excellent draft picks and talent evaluation. A “potential” talent is a lot less valuable than a certified young talent.

The Jets think they are wasting Jamal while he is still under his rookie deal. They are also looking at his second contract a couple of years from now. He’s on a path for a mega deal. They aren’t benefiting from his rookie deal, and don’t think they’ll be able to re-sign him.

Apparently the Jets and Packers were linked for a trade for Robby Anderson, but the Jets wanted a 2nd round pic for him

ETA: Packers offered a 4th, but Jets wanted a 2nd. Packers out

The Cowboys and #Jets don’t have a deal for Jamal Adams. … The #Broncos don’t have a deal for CB Chris Harris, as they held firm.

Have the jets watched Anderson play? He’s got two routes.

By hanging on to the lone bright spot on their team and not settling for a shite trade?

Sounds like the one good thing they would pull off this year.

Well speaking of Anderson, asking for a 2nd rounder is just completely overvaluing who he is as a player.

Adams is a different story and I agree

The #Browns aren’t making any trades. The #Lions aren’t making any trades. The #Bengals didn’t trade anyone. The #Bucs didn’t trade anyone. The #Jets didn’t trade anyone.

Add one more team to the mix from today: Ravens were actively going after Jets’ safety Jamal Adams, per source. But Ravens and Jets could not reach an agreement.

NBA cellar dweller owners aren’t dumb enough to hold onto players with expiring contracts or players that hold no more value to them.

Most NFL cellar dweller owners aren’t that smart which is why most of them, namely the Bengals and Redskins, stay there

Hard cap without any franchise tag type of option also makes things move more quickly than the NFL

Also much easier to translate a player on a new basketball team than football in a short time period. Much less focus/differences in scheme in basketball

Easy to be sellers in the NFL, harder to find buyers.

Rapsheet
The #Cowboys engaged in talks with the #Jets on S Jamal Adams and NYJ was only willing to part with Adams for a 1st rounder and two 2nd rounders, per me and @SlaterNFL. That is a LOT and shows Adams’ value.

So now that Adams has said that he told them last week that he is committed to staying in New York....can now someone try to explain why they would try to flip him??
